Bulls’ confidence running high after last year...

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Standing at the podium following Buffalo’s final spring practice, junior running back James Starks made a bold statement that only a year ago would’ve been considered preposterous.

“It is basically a bowl game or bust for us,” Starks said. “That’s how everybody feels. That’s our mind-set.”

The Bulls are no longer the nation’s punchline, and Starks’ high hopes are an indication of how far the University at Buffalo has come in two years under coach Turner Gill, and after enjoying its most successful season since returning to the elite ranks in 1999.

At least he didn't go "Joe Willie" on us and guarantee a MAC championship. Buffalo is definitely moving in the right direction.

Sorry there Freddie, I was a bit late to the party on this one.

As for Sparks' prediction, I'll keep it simple and say I'll believe it when I see it. My guess is that the Bulls will be competitive to some degree, but not enough to reach a bowl.
