Hey there's lotsa people on this board who think GB is the best coach in the MAC...falconboy, hammb and warthog think we're nuts, but we do exist.. :-)

What kind of sammich? I just ate a pair of hebrew national franks while watching the Tigers take a beating from the Tribe

As much as I dislike Buffalo, I have to disagree with Turner Gill being so far down the list. 46th place? I'd understand if he was at least ahead of Jeff Genyk (EMU), Mark Snyder (Marshall), or Shane Montgomery (Miami). He's done a much better job than any of those guys. I'd put JD Brookhart up there too had Akron not won that (FLUKE!!!) MAC Championship in 2005

I'm getting a steady diet of family/work/school/activities sandwiches coupled with a fine brew of depleted confidence.

Humble pie sprinkled with some crushed hopes and dreams for dessert.........served with coffee, of course.

Tomorrow I start on my self help book.

Ok, I'll take the bait...

Any idea what this guy is basing this on? Seriously, what is the criteria? He has Montgomery, Genyck, and Martin ranked 33,34,35. Montgomery took his team to the title game. Martin was the turnaround story of 2006. What the hell has Genyck done to warrant even being mentioned in the same category as those two? And Brookhart actually won a MAC title and he is just a couple spots up at 31. Huh?

Turner Gill is the worst coach in the MAC? I don't think so.

How does Kill get in at 39 when he hasn't even coached a game yet?

I take those rankings about a serious as I take any of tekinininininni's post here.

Gregg Brandon is very respected nationally and we're lucky to have him. The grass-is-greener mentality is always tempting, but we can (and have done) much worse. Dienart does his homework on the non-BCS programs and is one of the few national writers whose opinion I respect. In terms of the list, Turner Gill and Tommy West are too low while Larry Fedora and Kevin Sumlin are too high.

Mark Snyder at Marshall is an interesting case. He was being mentioned as a candidate for the BG job when Urbie left. At the time, he seemed to have the ideal profile as a hungry, ambitious recruiting dynamo schooled by Jim Tressel. I actually emailed Krebs urging him to consider Snyder and he sent back a nice reply saying he was doing just that. He ends up getting the Marshall job and they've struggled mightily and just canned their offensive coordinator after a couple years of boring, unproductive play.

+1. Living in the Akron area, I keep up on the Zips pretty well and I still am not convinced Brookhart is a good head coach...which is fine with me. Let the Zips think he is...and he'll keep posting 5-7 seasons. :-D

I'm in the group with Flip...still support Coach B 110%.

I am not a big fan of Brandon either, but on the surface he has been productive with only one losing season and three bowl games as well as two back-to-back seasons with national rankings. It doesn't change my stance on how I feel about it, but I'm just throwin' that out there.

This is great news. That kind of notoriety just means he is that much closer to being hired by another team after this year and then we can get a good coach in here.

Sadly, I don't think it'll accomplish that at all. The fact remains if any of the major schools really thought he was worthy he wouldn't be here any longer.

He's already been here too long to get the label of the up & comer. He's now a guy who's done a reasonable job at the MAC level, but cannot even win that conference. I just don't think there's anyway for a BCS school to sell their fanbase on Gregg Brandon at this point.

We're stuck with him.

Gary Pinkel.....he was at UT for several years (many of them up and down) before building that 2000 powerhouse that landed him the Mizzou gig. It's not the ususal path, but a coach can put in several years of varying success at a mid major before hitting the "big time".

Seems to happen in hoops more than football though...

Globetrotter, you are right BG needs a good coach. BG needs a coach that should win 62% of their games and 66% in the MAC. BG needs a coach that will go to three bowl games in five years and win two of them. BG needs a coach that is committed to BG.

They already have him. He is ranked 11th on this list. I think he could be higher.

I think Turner Gill's ranking is fine. He has gone 2-10 and 5-7. 7-17, I am not ready to annoint him quite yet. Buffalo has a ton of talent back, but he isn't deserving of a higher ranking yet until he does the job, like have a winning season or go to a bowl game.
