Tier One officials never set foot in Anderson Arena...that is the difference.

OK gang, I'm seeing a lot of basic economic ignorance out here.

Wages are market driven. Cut that $1200 to what you believe is fair? The market will respond. Fewer will take the jobs. Those that do will be locals, less professional, less reliable.

In reality, "fair" is irrelevant. Subjective judgments of monetary value are irrelevant and usually stupid. All of this talk about vampires taking $1,200 that rightfully belong to schools is silly. Just stop it.

Personally, I'd like to see the MAC offer more than $900. This will give a bigger incentive to the best of the best to offer their services. If a guy has officiating skills, and has a chance to make $900 x 20 games = $18,000 extra per year, would he take it? Is $18,000 worth the overall life distraction for 4.5 months. Personally, that's an opportunity that I'd pass on.

They do.

Tier One officials make $1,400 a game and Tier Two make $1,000 a game.

I'm not sure if it was in a joking maner or not, but we have had Tier One officials in Anderson Arena. Ed Hightower did the Toledo game this year, then went on to do the National Championship Game between Kansas and Memphis. If that's not Tier One, then I don't know what is.

One should change the title of this thread from "do you know" to "do you care."

I worked out the math using tier 2 money. Cleveland to Oxford. Guy is making about $65 an hour (I count drive time in the hours because when I drive for work, I'm on the clock.)

Quality prostitutes make hundreds of dollars an hour for an easier job with similar hazards. Where's the indignation with hookers? You people and your double standards - gadzooks.
