Same thing happened with Blackney as we both know.. he had trouble recruiting players to play his style of football.. sure I know he recruited Josh Harris, but he also played him at running back.. DD right on again

"Yeah, but Brandon has won with Meyer's recruits which quite frankly Noah Smith could have coached to similar results. . . "

I'm not quite sure how to take that one ...

Bowl bid in Mobile, Alabama: approx. $750,000
Salary for coach to get us there: $125,000
Having a coach that p***es off the Rockets: Priceless.

Brandon has done a better job of recruiting than Urbie did. His first class was hampered by the timing of Meyer's departure, but he still got some very good players, particularly on the Oline.

Last year's class was the best this school has ever seen. Turner, Winovich, Briggs and Hood are going to be something. (as will Corey Partridge)

Hell, the best player Meyer ever recruited, Cole Magner, would never have come here were it not for Brandon. So far as comparison's to Blackney's teams, this is not Gary Blackney's MAC

Also, we had at least a couple of fifth-year seniors on this year's team that Blackney actually recruited. He also recruited Josh Harris, Janssen Patton, Ryan Wingrove, Brandon Hicks and Khary Campbell.

We're getting players here, and we're doing the right things with them. Let's keep it up.

A Florida alum has this site up as a bit of a long term prevention plan, in the event that Meyer becomes their head coach... wanting to avoid the fireronzook.com hoopla again.

I would be very interested to see any proof that has Cole Magner's verbal attached to a relationship with stronger ties to Gregg Brandon and not Urban Meyer.

Meyer had him in camps at Colorado State and Magner was supposedly the first player he called when he got the job.

Urban recruited exceptionally well here at BG. We have the likes of Keon Newson, Cole Magner, Steve Sanders, Charles Sharon, Omar Jacobs and Mitch Crossley among others to show for it.

Brandon had a pretty solid class last year coming off of the Motor City Bowl, but quite frankly has left a lot on the table thus far this year. I will be very interested to see where this class ends up, b/c thus far it is lackluster at best, however, the internet "services" are quite deceiving so I will reserve complete judgment until mid February.

Brandon and his staff had us prepared at Purdue and took advantage of a team that did not show up to play to their credit. Coach Hillman was given the gameball afterward and we simply outplayed them down the stretch. The safety call with Magner deep in the formation was actually called by Hammb as he sat next to me and was one of the few actual great strategic moments of this staff's tenure.

Urban flat out got beat and simply outcoached in DeKalb two years ago. They admitted as much as the staff said they were not prepared for the thundersticks. The only other game that Urban "lost" was the UT game when he tried to outcoach himself with the ill-fated fake punt call. I'll take twice in 22 games before I accept it as the bi-weekly norm any day.

There is not enough bandwith space to address the strategic errors that Brandon's staff has made that have directly put us in jeopardy of losing games, have directly cost us games and/or cost us recruits.

I have no way to prove it, but if you put Urban Meyer in Ohio Stadium on our sideline last fall, I have no reservation saying that we walk out with a win. I firmly believe that we would not have completely changed the offense or excuse me, pissed down our leg in the first half. When the offense was run, it could not be stopped. And to run a trick play to a kid who at that point in the season had caught something like two passes is illogical and irresponsible play-calling.

The moment that most prominently stands out is the 1:07 on the clock in the first half with a timeout remaining in the Glass Bowl a week ago. BG in command 27-7. You have the nation's leader in TD passes and he has thrown 3 interceptions all year and has arguably the best receiving corp in the MAC at his disposal. Brandon called three halfback draws to run out the clock and we all know the final result.

To say that Urban Meyer would not have gone to the Motor City Bowl last year, perhaps you are correct. He probably would've pulled Jelani Jordan after the first 3 touchdown passes and managed to win the game. If not, he would've had us in the Motor City Bowl as well. Gregg Brandon and staff are not doing anything that Meyer would not have accomplished himself.

Option..Brandon had Magner in camp at Colorado. He had to talk Meyer into letting him spend the $$$ to fly him in for a look. Brandon cast the deciding vote amongst the staff to offer him the scholarship. If Brandon ain't here, neither is Magner.

If Meyer goes to ND, ok, when he goes, does he pick a coach or two from us?

Yeah, someone posted a newspaper article on here that mentioned the Brandon site a little while ago. The people that bought that one, buy a bunch of them with hopes of eventually selling them to disgruntled fans and making some $. The theory behind getting the Brandon url, was in anticipation of him eventually moving on somewhere "bigger". If you notice, the address takes you to their listing of "redshirted" urls. The world is messed up I tell ya.

I think it's funny...there really are no limits on the methods a person can find to engage in a little speculative investing.

Flipper is CORRECT on the Cole Magner story, and how soon Option forgets the "fake punt". That may rank as the stupidist call in Bowling Green football history. OK, maybe not the worst, but it ranks right up there!!

Yeah, but Brandon has won with Meyer's recruits which quite frankly Noah Smith could have coached to similar results. . .
Last year was done mostly with Gary Blackney's recruits.

Okay I had to weigh in on this issue. GB may not have won the big ones this year, but if i remember right all the guys who predict the games said BG would have a down year because of the loss of Jansen Patton, J5, ect. I think GB should be given a lot of credit for taking this team 8-3. No one knew what we had in Omar. I mean a lot of people here said at the spring game OJ looked horrible. So evidently he's had some pretty good coaching. I guess what I'm trying to get at is I cant b*tch and complain about GB because the memory of Gary Blackney is VERY fresh in my mind. Attendance of about 7,000 fans per game. Ranked i believe in 1998 105th out of 112 teams to begin the season. So I think we should all be happy to have GB in town.

Why the heck would Utah put an "out" clause in Urban's contract for the Notre Dame job? That just seems really weird if you ask me. :? Its like they didn't care if he took off at the drop of a hat. Where they that desperate for Meyer? :coo-coo:
