#4 most hated sports club in the country....
according to Sports Illustrated:
THE Ohio State University.
lol I love it. That is respect. Everyone loves to hate a winner because they fear the winners.
OSU was ahead of the Cowboys, USC, anything in California and Florida.
They were behind Everything Boston, NY Yankees and I forget what # 3 was.
Awesome!

Ohio is a sports club? That makes no sense. Bats are sports clubs. The Yankees are a club, I guess or at least major league teams have been called clubs for years, and the Kent State tiddlywinks team is a club team but the University of Ohio State? What did they mean by club?
I love the Yankees and all the Boston teams but the Pats. People in Florida must like the OSU, I guess.

...But unfortunately NOT QUITE enough respect. Some teams are just that good that they command everybody's respect. There are any number of successful teams that are good enough to be hated by most, but only a few teams in the world that are SO good that nobody can deny them. As a Manchester United fan, it pains me to admit Liverpool of the 70's and 80's were too good to criticize. The New Zealand All Blacks spring to mind in the world of rugby, and Brazil in international soccer.tekekini wrote:That is respect.
Not sure who would clinch that "reverance" spot in the NFL: maybe the Miami Dolphins following their undefeated season? Pittsburgh's iron curtain era? The '49ers? I don't know. College football is so much harder because players come and go so frequently. I guess it boils down to the consistency of a coach. I am all for Ohio State joining the "immortals", but I guess that depends on Coach T extending his run for some time to come.

I assume that Duke men's basketball was pretty high up on this list. They would make sense at #3.

Why would anyone hate Duke? Great school, graduates their athletes and is incredibly succesful. I always thought they did things right for the most part.BGGrad01 wrote:tekekini wrote:I forget what # 3 was.

Everywhere down South, I hear the SEC laughing about the "respect".tekekini wrote:according to Sports Illustrated:

They do. They are jealous that OSU can take a beating but still continue their success and dominance and continue to get back into title games. Florida wins it once and then they suck and get spanked by scUM. LSU wins it and then they lose half their team to draft and their starting QB gets kicked off the team and will be in 1-AA next year.Falconfreak90 wrote:Everywhere down South, I hear the SEC laughing about the "respect".tekekini wrote:according to Sports Illustrated:

i think at the base, the hate for certain teams is based on two things, the media and their fans.
[rant]
first and foremost, the media. they have the ability in my mind to completely change how i view team. for example, before and even after the red sox became world series champs i liked them. however, now that's changed because they're the only ones covered by espn. i can understand why fans of smaller market teams (like cleveland, cincinnati etc) hate the yankees and bo-sox. if we want to follow sports, we're forced to hear stories upon stories of things we don't care about the red sox to see the daily 15 seconds of coverage for our teams sandwiched in between.
and not far behind are the fans. i hate ohio state not because of the football they play. they're a really good team, they play great, smart football, i have a ton of respect for their coach, but their fans are gawd-awful obnoxious. it's for that reason that i hope they lose every game they play. (except if they would play toledo, that can go on for eternity in a scoreless tie
) that way when they lose they can't annoy the heck out of me by bragging they're the best thing around b/c they just beat up on San Jose St at home. of course they start whining when they lose, so you can't really win.
[/rant]
toledo, that's just a different story, no explanation necessary right?

Thats right...Domination!
No one has been to the title game more times than the Bucks? How is it Bullshit that we at least got there? There are 116 other NCAA 1-A teams in the last two years who can not say that.
I laugh out loud at your extreme jelousy and your inability to hide it.

Just to point out, because I know you didn't do the research, since the BcS "nat'l title game began:tekekini wrote:San Fran Falcon wrote:dominance????Dude, what fu**ing planet are you from? Florida State has been 3 times ('99, '00, '01) and
Oklahoma has been 3 times ('01, '04, '05).
Like Ohio State, these teams are also 1-2 in those games. Fwiw, LSU is 2-0 in their title games. They don't even have to make arguments like the Suckeyes do
(disclaimer: this is the first time I've used the strength of the SEC to bolster my argument. this is very much against everything i believe in and i promise never to do this again.
edit: grammatical error in my disclaimer
