#4 most hated sports club in the country....

OSU is a middling NCAA athletic power. They are sixth in the Big Ten in NCAA championships, behind Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State and others. They trail LSU by a huge number although they have 20 more NCAA championships than BG. They trail University of Denver by 4. They trail Texas. They trail Stanford, USC, California and UCLA. They have an advantage of only 9 over Johns Hopkins.

True, some of these schools have so dominated a single sport that its hard to call them an athletic power, but most win in a broad array of sports. They just make the Top Twenty in terms of NCAA championships. All this with the one of the largest athletic budgets in the country over the last several years. OSU is hardly hated for their dominance in sports so if they are hated it must be for some other reason.

The article references OSU FOOTBALL. Do you think SI or anyone else cares about volleyball or gymnastics or freaking row boating? Quit adding to the story what doesn't belong.

Learn to read between the lines and any idiot can figure out that the list has OSU football. Yes it lists TOSU but the explanation is all about football.

That went over most of your heads. I guess you have to have at least a 5th grade reading level to understand what it was saying. I guess Sports Illustrated is a tough read for some of you.

As for the 2002 championship, that one was won on a VERY questionable play... so let us just review here shortly... This "dominance" must have started after Cooper handed over the reigns to Sweater Vest because they were pretty damn weak just a few years before the fashion trend donned the whistle... Well the losing in championship games comment obviously includes football...but I'd go so far as to include the basketball team losing to Florida as well. Because just like football season... all you heard about was the "Thad Five" that season in which AN Ohio State University spent time as the #1 team just to end up pissing it down their legs...

So to rebut your argument of "dominance"

2002... they didn't "dominate" Miami... it took two OT's with a couple of very questionable calls (i.e. the Clarett dual possession turnover, and the Pass Interference in the End Zone that looked like a clean jump ball to every other fan not pulling for the Buckeyes and I don't mean just Miami fans)

2007 (football)... so dominant that they ran the table and then Florida stomped a MUD HOLE in their chest... to the tune of 41-14... Dominating of course... for the Gators that is...

2007 (basketball)... so dominant that they were owned by Florida not once... but twice in the same season... at least they put up a fight in the second meeting... but if there wasn't a little luck in there in the Xavier and Tennessee games they don't even rematch Florida...guess that could of saved the embarrassment of being OWNED by UF in three separate contests

2008...so dominant that it required 3 losses by teams ranked #1 and #2 (Kansas, Missouri, and West Virginia) in the BCS in the final two weeks to back their way from #5 to #1 in the BCS by not even playing... sounds like dominance to me, you know... having to rely on someone else to determine YOUR Ranking...

So if it requires us a 5th grade reading level to understand what SI had to say...

What kind of maturity level and grasp of reality will it take you to face the facts that were just laid in front of you???

you ever see OSU's baseball stadium? Their gymnastic facilities? I think a few people care about sports other than football where, by the way, OSU has never won an NCAA Championship. At one time the argument could be made that OSU had a dominant swimming program- that's about it.

And, with that fifth grade reading level you possess you should have discerned that OSU is NOT the fourth most hated franchise in sports in the author's opinion, but actually comes in no worse than sixth, depending on what you consider Boston's major sport's teams to be. And if we were all jealous of OSU why wouldn't we have just attended school there and joined the ranks of OSU fans?

I am something of an Ohio State fan (AFTER BG, of course). BUT, someone hit the nail on the head earlier. Obnoxious fans are what make people hate the Buckeyes. If you just wanted to list the top 10 (or 20, or however many) teams on the SI list, that's cool. But why post on some other school's web site just to stir the pot? Your team is good, so stop being so insecure all the time.

They don't have to win it every year to dominate. They are constantly and consistently playing for the title. They are always giving themselves the shot. They are starting to dominate recruiting. They are now the "it" school that everyone wants to go to and that USC used to be (15 commits already for '09, and they get everyone that they want, not what they have to take).

The Yankees and the Red Sox, hell even the Patriots dominate their sports but they do not win titles EVERY year. You can not say the Pats weren't a dominate team. There is always a small chance they can go down. It just happened to be in the Superbowl.

Because it is on the "other schools" forum where someone else would have posted it anyways if I didn't go ahead and do it. The Other schools forum is where all of the OSU threads get started by BG fans but when I start one I get called out and get labled as insecure?

Insecure would be to go on the OSU boards and whine and cry about all of the hate the Buckeyes get. Insecure woould be to go on the Buckeyes boards just to see nothing but positive talk so that I would never have to read any negative comments or outlooks about OSU.

Thats what I have my cincy sports board for. While the main focus may be cincy boards, there are plenty of fans of non-cincy teams/colleges with plenty of opinions I disagree with, hell I disagree with many of the cincy people occassion. Or I can just stay here as well and go to the football and hockey forums, plenty of disagreements going on in there.
