The funny thing about that article, is that just before Urban left, everyone in NW Ohio had that same confidence he was staying. It looks like his departure from Utah is going to be just as heartwrenching, if not more! Get out the Kleenex Utes fans, time to find a new coach!TG1996 wrote:found the article, for a refresher...BelieveNBG wrote:Yeah, I agree...give us that e-mail address. You just beat me at asking for that address.![]()

For what it is worth, a lot of people in BG thought his wife was a flaming nag and didn't like her. This being a small mid-western town, that happens, as it has happened to certain former coaches. Plus nobody had any illusions about what his wife thought of BG. We all knew she had to be sold on coming here by coaches wives and others.
It was in how he left, after what he said in very plain terms, that got folks mad at first. The BG players thought he was a traitor because he said he would stay, in plain terms, then left two weeks later. Nobody thought he'd stay forever, they figured he would stay true to his word and stick around the next year. Urban is being much more coy this time, which tells you more than what he actually says.
People here were talking about his going to Notre Dame since before Davie was not renewed.
Every coach is going to talk about how he and his family love the area they live in. Writing much into that is like buying fools gold. Its pretty and shiny, and is worth nothing.
Utah has a great program thanks to its athletic staff, and it has gotten far better for having hired Urban Meyer. That is part of running and developing an athletics program. Saying the right things, and keeping your options open, to allow you to move the up the ladder while you are a hot commodity, is what a young coach like Urban Meyer does. Hoping a coach will stay, against all logic or reality, is what local sports writers and fans do. Two of the three groups work in the real world. The third group just enjoys what is presented.
Urban wouldn't go to Florida because its a bigger mess, and has its own founding father coaching against it now. Besides, Urban's wife doesn't like orange very much.

If he would have gone to ND, I might have let Joe slide, but with all his convincing arguments why Mrs. Meyer's husband would NEVER go to Florida... have at it!
