I've just read this thread, but I'm glad you took the time to write in about it...I mentioned to my friend Terry how classless I thought it was... In hindsight, maybe it was the fact that the UT band was playing the National Anthem, therefore couldn't be heard due to a lack of musicians.

Either way, hope to see y'all in Mobile in a few weeks...Joyce is working on details to change some vacation time around...otherwise, I'll have to do a solo...and obviously would prefer that she be with me.

Well stated, Mitch!! It's an honor to know you and what you represent to this country. This guy is a total idiot if he feels the need to put down ANY person serving in the military. Thanks for speaking up!!!

I am not a big fan of national anthem being played before non-international events (i.e. US National team vs. Mexico or BGSU vs. U of Windsor), but in a time of distress and war I can rationalize it and have come to accept it's playing.

So, to use the excuse: "The reason trhe[sic] student section did not acknowledge the anthem is because they neve[sic] heard the announcement that the anthem was starting.", Is ridiculous.

How long have you been attending sporting events?

Not knowing the song would be played or even recognize that the other 27,000 people in the glASS bowel were standing is a bit odd. Are you that dilusional not to notice/recognize what is going on around you?

That would be like being caught off guard when the teams lined up for the opening kick off.

For a "Casual" observer you sure do stick around here a lot and make more than just casual observations. Oh yeah, you didn't answer my BG history question yet. Did we steal your future hall of fame hoops coach before OR after we called off the football rivalry?

And also for the record the Toledo Blade omitted my rank & branch of service. So next time, get your facts from some other source than CBS, Google or a class yearbook.

And if you want to justify the classless behavior of the UT Students to make yourself feel better, go for it.

Casualobserver is the prime example of the right to freedom of speech.

While he is wrong in almost everything he states, he is allowed to say it nonetheless.

But to degrade a gentleman who put on the uniform and has protected his very right to exercise his freedom of speech is TOTALLY ASININE and you should be ashamed of yourself.

I did not degrade the guy. Since there was no rank next to his name in the Blade, there was no way of knowing if he was telling the truth or not. My opinion, and I am allowed to have one, was that I did not think he ever served a day in his life and it was a bullshit way of complaining. If he actually did serve, fine.

To the guy who heard it from the BG Band. Dude, the speakers are right next to your section. You could not hear a thing in the student section. Nobody bitched about it until you guys lost and needed to complain about something.

In addition, I have not been wrong about anything I have written except questioning if this dork ever served. By the way, to all you kissasses, I do not need to respect someone just because they put on a uniform. The uniform does not make the man, my friend.

For anyone to question the integrity or dignity of any person serving in any capacity in the armed services is a disgrace.

Are you kidding me?!?! You can't be this stupid. You seriously can't. Its just not possible. If you were you would be drooling on yourself 24-hours a day. I'm not saying that isn't the case, but I'd like to give you the benefit of doubt.

I was sitting in section 31, right behind the students, and spent the whole game commenting on how loud that LARGE BANK OF SPEAKERS was at the south end of the STUDENT SECTION!!! You school is full of trash, just admit it.

Now, leave our respectable alumni alone and STEP THE F**K OFF!!!!!!!!!

The speakers are NOT right by the student section, they are above the student section, and off to the left, pointed towards the upper deck...right where you were sitting. There were also no thundersticks in your section as well. Man, it is amazing that you folks function.

Just because someone claims to be in the military does not mean I have to believe them. Just because someone says they are a doctor does not mean I am going to let them operate on me. In addition, I can call anyone I want a dork. What, just because he is in the military, he must be a stand-up guy? The military has a lot of idiots and criminals in it, just like regular society.

Like I said, I is really amazing that you people function in society. You don't even understand the simplest of reasoning. I am guessing that most of you are on the farm or in some time-clock punching job where you do not have to think much.

To the idiot that does not understand how noise travels, I am sorry that you cannot understand how the speakers work and the thundersticks work. You are the typical idiot that mows his lawn and talks really really loud because he thinks people can't hear him just because he can't hear them.
