Loren AND Melvin
I think that everyone needs to calm down. What has been played OUT in the news is starting to get old, and NOONE knows EXACTLY what happened. none of us were on the scene when it happened, NOR do we even know whos drugs those were. I find it very irritating that everyone just gangs up on Loren instantly because it was his car. Yes, i understand he was the one driving, and this really is going to be a hard time for him, but don't give up on him...if you do, you cant really call yourself a fan.
I dont care how many times you've met Loren OR Melvin (because he was a part of this too)... things happen...and sometimes they are not used with their best judgement...but they are human. This has nothing to do with the fball team, or how they were treated by the coaches. It has nothing to do with what they were handed throughout their years at BGSU. The only reason why the news is throwing that in, is because its a headline.
i think that the best that we all can do right now, is wait it out. Everything they are dealt is just a way to grow stronger from..and i believe that what Loren and Melvin are going through, will work itself out.
dont judge. they are humans. stuff happens. you live. you learn. and you get over it.

Getting in a fight at Uptown HAPPENS.
Failing a history class HAPPENS.
To the extent that this story goes, even underage drinking and getting caught with a joint in college HAPPENS.
Getting caught with $200K of coke in your car doesn't just HAPPEN, unless this "misunderstanding" Hargrove doesn't want to discuss without a lawyer is a doozie. I pray for his sake that it is.
As a fan of BGSU and moreso as a fan of not watching a 22-year-old kid mess his life up before it gets a chance to get going, I hope he proves me and the rest of us wrong. That someone snuck the drugs into his car without him knowing and that he really is just a patsy in all this.
But the details that have come out thus far are way to serious to brush off with "it'll be okay."
Oh, and welcome aboard!

"We really don't know what their intentions were for being there other than they were heading back to Bowling Green," said Botkins Chief of Police Wayne GlassGlobetrotter wrote:Like I said in my previous post. I agree. The fact that a recent ex football player with relationships too current players is in such trouble should have the athletic department and football staff on alert. I just am skeptical about the report that he was headed back to BG with the stuff.Rightupinthere wrote:You're right. Don't sweat it, Mr. Christopher! It's not like Loren was giving interviews to anyone but the police and any information that the police would provide the media on the issue would have to be basic and strict fact in nature until trial and this seems purely speculative. I am not saying he wasn't headed back to BG. BG had a coke issue going on when I was there actually so he very well might have been. However, for this information to come out at this point it seems a bit presumptive and even sensationalist.
Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeah. It's called "internal investigation." There was coke back when I was in BG as well - as it's also present at most other institutions of advanced learning. That's not what is at play here. I believe the relationship Hargrove has with current ath-a-leets would be a portent for the AD.
As goes the athletic program, so goes the image of the university. The AD can and should control this sort of activity and this story SHOULD put them at DEFCON one.........which goes back to my original post.
From Autullo's article in The Blade.....Unfortunately, the fact that they were coming to BG seems to be the only thing certain...
Finally a senior!
I have to dissagree with bgsugrad. As a player, they are told by their coaches that they need to lead by example, to be respectful in the community. That they are and always will be an ambassador of the football team and university. That goes for any school. Recently in the Dayton News, it wasn't "Joe Schmo" that got arrested...it was an ex-OSU football captain. (not to rip on OSU, but that was a recent headline just a few days before this one). We've also been told, if you hang around bad people, bad things will happen to you. Yes, it is sad that this happened, and this is now a blemish on BGSU, but he put himself in that situation.

Criminals are not real smart people...esp pack mules like this...there is a very big reason why people like you guys are not transporting drugs...your smart....and the ones that are smart enough to know how to not get caught, are the ones running the show.

You know...the notion that "criminals are dumb, that's why they're criminals" is practically canard, but I don't really buy it. I've had run ins with a number of petty criminals in my earlier days as a hired goon. Most of them lack the skills to lead a normal life, but they're also usually pretty sharp when it comes to basic survival skills when it comes to their "work".

thats odd...these low on the totem poll mules are always the ones with "something to prove" and their egos and attitudes always are the undoing...the 50-5 50 hat, Mr T gold starter kits, gold tooth and an in your face attitude.....and over all poor choices in judgment.
simple hoods, easily marked, trash. The ones that exercise digression are few and far between.
Its not unllike the ....hum..not being pc i will call them...the bad gay element. Those who seek out sex and sex partners in public places...what ever its called..like at Franklin Park mall...the mens restrooms in two anchors and the movie theater have become the place...here you have folks who are seemingly trying to keep this a secret again exercising poor judgment with location...one of the most highly trafic places in Toledo....go to south wick. or guys that pick up hookers that end up being cops, in their cars etc..
point being that even folks who are breaking basic laws...are stupid and make simple mistakes....its why they get caught...its not as if the brain trust that is law enforcement really has to work hard at getting them...they just need to be in the right place at the right time...and the right place seems to be plain sight.

Just about every cop I know (and I work with a lot of cops) are astounded at the level of stupidity of criminals. Even the "smart" ones make stupid mistakes- they just can't imagine they'll get caught or don't make connections between behavior (throwing trash in a parking lot) and consequences (drawing unwanted attention to themselves). I work with a lot more criminals than cops and I concur.Flipper wrote:You know...the notion that "criminals are dumb, that's why they're criminals" is practically canard, but I don't really buy it.
