Is this the "BIG" news freddiethefalconBG was talking about?
Who do you like for a replacement? My vote is for Dan Bylsma. He's run his own hockey school for over a decade (Reirden has worked there in the past) and all that NHL experience (assistant captain of the Ducks) would be a great recruiting draw.

Yeah... I'm sure Dan Bylsma will suddenly drop his job on a fasttrack to an NHL head coaching position and come and be an assistant coach for Scott Paluch. Honestly you have a better chance at getting Scotty Bowman to come and be an associate coach..

He's an assistant for Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Although I'm sure you could argue he's a fine coach and is moving up within the coaching ranks, one would be hard pressed to say he's on the "Fast Track."rood wrote:Where is Bylsma these days? I googled him and couldn't find anything other than his hockey school website.

This is great news! congrats doug. Hes a good coach and this again another great opportunity for another BG assistant to move on and stake his own claims. We are blessed with great coaches here at BG, in many cases we just can not aford to keep them, esp when competing with a chance to take the wheel.
i wont be suprised if T. R is gone if this summer, or next for sure on his own path.

Okay, UNCLE!common sense would lead me to believe that Dan has a far greater chance of coaching in the NHL by being an associate coach at the AHL level than by being an assitant coach at the NCAA level.
Yes, it would be a step down to come in as an asst. at BG from there. I didn't know where he was and couldn't find anything on him since he left the Islanders when the head coach who had hired him was fired.
You can't blame a fan for dreaming.
Is this constant turnover of assistants normal throughout college hockey? I really don't pay attention to other teams assistants so I couldn't say, but by my count we have had 6 asst. coaches in 6 years. That seems like a lot. I think Jerry York had 3 (maybe four) in the 15 years he spent in BG.
