BG holds on for a 5-4 win!! BG led 5-1 and Ohio ended up scoring 1 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th on a two run HR but Kevin Leady closed the deal.
BG had 14 hits....and this was win #12 in a row...BG now 32-18.
Whew!
The Falcons will now face the winner of WMU/EMU tomorrow at 4 PM.

Great way to start off the tournament! A couple BG buddies and I went down to Columbus last night and were in Chillicothe bright and early this morning for the BG/OU game. It got a little too close for comfort towards the end, but BG hung on and got the win. We had to come back today but we did see the EMU/WMU game before we left. EMU looked pretty good. We'll be going back down on Friday for the rest of the tournament. All of the higher seed won out today (BG over OU, EMU over WMU, NIU over BSU & KSU over CMU). Hopefuly that trend ends tomorrow as EMU is the #2 seed. GO BG!!!
GO BG!!!
This team is just flat out clutch. Whether it's coming through with big hits or weathering the storm with big outs in the late innings, this team has a killer instinct. If someone is going to beat us, they're going to have to do it in spectacular fashion because these guys simply refuse to lose.Falconfreak90 wrote:FM,factman wrote:BG WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5-4 in a nail biter!! Ya beat me to it! Got a little nervous there in the last 2 innings...but we survived!
Re: Ugh!
We are still alive in the tournament as we now drop into the bottom half of the bracket. BG now has to play Ohio for the fifth time this season (and for the fifth time this month). We swept OU in Athens and beat OU in game one of the MAC Tournament, and now we play them again, this time in an elimination game. The winner of the BG/OU game must then beat EMU twice to advance. The bottom line is, we've got to win three games in a row now. The loss to EMU today was costly as in this type of format, a loss in each or either of the first two games either eliminates you or drops you into the bottom half of the bracket, respectively. EMU is in a very nice spot right now, as will be the winner of the KSU/NIU game. But first thing is first, hopefully we can beat OU for the fifth time this season. After that, you never know.Falconboy wrote:BG loses 11-4 to EMU today. Dang, we were so close. Is this still a young team with good chances for next year as well?
We only have a few seniors on this year's team, so yes, we should be in great shape if we can pick up where we left off. But this year we are Co-MAC Champs and are still alive, so I'm still holding out hope we've got lots more baseball to play this year. GO BG!!

No, thankfully the tournament is double elimination. WMU and CMU went two-and-out and are done, and tomorrow the loser of the BG/OU and the BSU/vs. TBA will be out as well at 1-2. EMU is 2-0 and will play the winner of BG/OU and either BG or OU will need to beat EMU twice to move on. BSU will face the loser of the ongoing KSU/NIU game in the other elimination game of the day on Friday. The winner of that game will also need to beat the division winner twice. The MAC Championship game is a single contest.Falconboy wrote:Oh, that is nice. I was thinking one loss and your done.
