BG and OU in a pitcher's duel...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Kevin Leady has thrown a one hitter thru 5 but BG only has 3 hits total and it is a scoreless tie. BG has a man on first with 2 outs. Shay just singled...

:x OU has broken thru in the top of the 7th. They had bases loaded and no outs...two sacrifice flies have scored and now they just doubled in another run. Man on 2nd with two outs...OU leads 3-0. Dusty Hawk coming in to relieve Leady...

Hawk gets the last out...Now BG is coming to life with 2 singles and has two men on with one out. Bottom of 7th...

BG ends up getting 2 runs...trailing 3-2 in the top of the 8th. OU with a man on 1st and one out.

GO BG!

BG and OU tied at 3-3 in the top of the 10th...BUT, OH has the bases loaded and NOBODY out. :x

UPDATE!!! And BG gets out of the inning with no runs given up!! Wow...Nick Cantrell came in to pitch and slammed the door!!!!

BG now batting in the bottom of the 10th...one on and no outs!
This team just finds a way to get it done.

GO BG!

So much for the pitchers duel... you got me so excited to look in on the game, Freak, and it's suddenly 7-3 OU top 13. :( They've still got two on with two out.

Here's to a little bit more BG magic in the bottom half...

Dang...BG couldn't come up with anything! :( OU moves on and BG ends the year at 32-20. Still, a very fine season and we are CO MAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMP!!

SOB! Tough, tough loss to take going 13 innings like that. Our offense was pretty quite in the tournament, scoring 5,4 & 3 runs respectively after exploding in many games this year. We got some decent pitching in the tournament but some walks and errors hurt us. And what was it about facing Ohio in extra innings in the MAC Tournaments this year for BG? Both BG softball and baseball saw their seasons come to an end to OU in extra innings. This one stings the most because we went 4-1 against OU this year, but the only one we lost was the one that ended our season. It was tough to end it going only 1-2 in the tournament after coming in as co-MAC Champions riding a then 11-game winning streak and winning our opening game here in the tournament. I also liked who was in our bracket with KSU in the other side and teams like Ohio (3-0), EMU (1-0) & WMU (0-1) who we went a combined 4-1 against during the regular season. But, it just wasn't in the cards.

That said, we still had a good season. We should return nearly everyone next season and hopefully we can make a deeper run in the tournament next year. We're about to head down for the rest of the tournament, I just wish the Falcons were still going to be around. It's now down to OU, KSU, EMU, NIU or BSU. I'm now pulling for KSU as I think the Golden Flashes are the best team in the MAC and I think they'll represent the conference best in Regionals. If not KSU, then either EMU or NIU. We'll see what happens.
GO BG!!!

Very tough to do. Like a coach I know used to say, "Sometimes it's not how many times you beat a team, it's when you beat them." Chalk that up in the "that's baseball" category.

At least it turned out to be meaningless for them as they subsequently lost to Eastern and were eliminated.

We're going to be loaded next year and it's phenomenal that the senior class got to conclude their career BG as co-champions of the MAC.
