I hope these recent arrests are examples of guys making terrible decisions (or major misunderstandings) and not signs of a major problem within the football program. I really hope that Coach Brandon, his staff, and the athletics department are taking these incidents very seriously.
It will never cease to amaze me when a scholarship athlete makes such a bonehead decision (apparently). Over the last 7 years, we have had 6 guys make it to an NFL active or practice roster and only a handful of others get a shot at the AFL or CFL. That means that around 99% of our football players do not make it professionally. It is really disappointing when guys like Barrow throw away the opportunity to get a quality education free of charge given the minimal chance of a future playing professional football.
Here we go again...
Cue the song, “Real Men of Genius.”
Unbelievable! It simply amazes me when I see acts of stupidity such as this. It always leaves me scratching my head asking, “Why?” You mean to tell me this is what you have thrown your education and playing career away for?! WTF! I can only hope the other two geniuses are not players as well, but something tells me not to get my hopes up. Very disappointing news to say the least.

GO BG!!!
We can write this off as "an idiot among the pure," but odds are it isn't so simple. We have the other guy with the drug arrest, as he was heading back to BG, this two time loser now. I sit back and expect news of some massive bust of players any day now.
Dumb things happen, I can accept that there are going to be some oddballs. However, I expect this kid should in due course, be expelled from BGSU. Never mind the foot dragging that I expect from the coaching staff. I'd expect no less to be done if it were any other BGSU student.

Freak, I suspect you're right. We've seen the last of him, not only as a player, but as a student as well.
Well, this is another "teachable moment" for me to share with Noah about how you can really screw up a good thing.
Yeah, disappointing isn't a strong enough word. Man, what a wasted opportunity.

Absolutely. Anyone who thinks this is endemic to BG needs to follow college football more closely. We could have our entire starting defense arrested tomorrow and still be in better shape than a bunch of other programs inside and outside of the conference.hammb wrote:Hmm...
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to compete at the D1A level in football without bringing some questionable guys on board. The leaders of the program must do their best to keep them in line, but they cannot babysit them 24/7. All they can do is discipline the trouble makers with punishments that suit the crime. In this case I'd say he'll never wear another BG uniform.
What will distinguish us now, and what has distinguished us in the past (albiet on a smaller scale), is our response.
