MIZZOU VS. BGSU

Post by buffaloefalcon »

Just a little bit of history with the Tigers since we play them in 09. I know it's a bit off but this really looks GOOOOOOD!

BOWLING GREEN (Bowling Green leads, 3-1)
1995 - Bowling Green, 17-10 at Columbia
1998 - Missouri, 37-0 at Columbia
2001 - Bowling Green, 20-13 at Columbia
2002 - Bowling Green, 51-28 at Bowling Green

GO FALCONS! Possibility of a series looking very similar to the above against a Big Eleven team; namely, Minnesota! WE CAN DO IT, IT CAN BE DONE!

I had the opportunity to be at the game in 01 at Columbia. It was awesome. Patton had a big interception late in the game to seal it. Mizzou didn't think much of BG, because they had a fireworks celebration for after the game and someone set it off even though BG won.

In 2002, was the night I got married. My wedding party kept checking their phones to get a score. We had the DJ announce the final score.

The late Larry Smith deserves a lot of credit for scheduling BG in the past.

Tiznow,

That 2001 game...we were staying at Dana's dad's in Huron. When the game started, I was driving in my car west to pick up the game on the radio. Loved the ending of that one. Considering Pinkel kicked our tails 51-17 in the 2000 finale at the GB, I thought it was too good to be true that BG would ruin his Mizzou debut. THAT was sweet. Pinkel is a tool...good coach but a tool. :-D

2002 vs Mizzou...one of my all time favorite games. We kicked the livin' snot outta Pinkel and his boys, 51-28...Mitch Hewitt returned a pick six to finish it up in grand style. Mike Foor, Mrs. Freak's cousin who played at BG, was walking to the stadium and heard some Tiger fans laughing at how small our stadium was. 51, baby.

Laugh all ya want, boys. 3-1.

I wish this game was this year so I could go to it! I started grad school at Mizzou this year and have 1 year left, so I will miss it by a year! Even though I'm a student at Mizzou, I'm still having a hard time accepting Pinkel....

I suppose I could get over it if Mizzou were to go to the BCS next year.

Mizzou's stadium isn't exactly huge either. Granted it is bigger than the Doyt, but it's Big 12 vs. MAC....what would they expect?

BG-Mizzou

Post by Class of 61 »

I was at the BG-Mizzou game in '01... some of you may not remember this, but Andrew Hart was injured in that game and wound up being redshirted, if I recall correctly...Crazy thing was that he was hurt on a blocked XP attempt. (Hopefully, my memory hasn't totally de-generated). But the UM fans treated us fairly well, even though they were stunned at the result. Pinkel had "warned" them about BG (it was in the Saturday papers)...nice to see we made him into a Prophet that day.

I was at that 2002 game. What was funny was that I didn't even realize that we had just beat a BCS team, or rather it didn't really hit me at the moment. Missouri came to town and I can honestly say I thought we were playing a 1-AA school, at least with how they played in that game.

that 02' game was my freshmen year, coming in from out of state i knew nothing of bg football, just hockey. we beat tenn tech the first game and i thought we looked pretty decent. then i remember mizzu beating illinois on espn that week and then we absolutley destroyed them. i called my dad and said, "ummm i think we're pretty good" haha good times!!!

It is true. Do you think BG would have even been competitive last year against Mizzou?

Mizzou wins that one about 65-21
