I wasn't saying Pitt is on it's way to a BCS Bowl this year...but they were 5-7 last year and everyone saw the win over WV. Dave W is at a "now or never" point. They will be looking for a good season...
We'll have to play a great game...minimize mistakes. We can beat Pitt...but to say this team is a lousy team is far from the truth.

You are right Jacobs4Heisman, Brandon is no Wannstedt. I don't think Wannstedt's offenses have scored over 30 points in a game during his tenure as a college football coach much less average 30 points a game w/far less talent. Never mind the fact that Brandon is paid unbelievably less that Wannstedt's base of $824,000. Again, you are right. Brandon is no Wannstedt.
In fairness, it should not be hard to score 30 on Syracuse and Louisville either.cw08 wrote:Brandon's offenses score 30 points a year in the MAC. Wannstedt is in the Big East.
You make a good point but that fact can't be left out. It's not that hard to score 30 points a game against EMU and Toledo.
If we score 30+ on Pitt's defense I'll be surprised.

So I say we should do everything we can to get BG fans to travel en mass to Pitt and turn Heinz field into Doyt Perry East. Sound good?
Sounds great. From Philly, with tolls and $4.00 per gallon gas, travel expense is roughly $120.00 roundtrip. Maybe someone can start a fund drive on this site to make the drive affordable.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and most of my family lives there. If you have any questions, let me know.FortWayneFalcon wrote:5 hours 40 minutes drive from home, but I'm still hatching a plan to make my first mini vacation to Pittsboyg. I hope to hear more about the city, hotels, attractions, and gameday plans in the coming months on this forum. Anybody order tickets yet??

It's about a 2 hour drive for me from Green to the Burgh. Pittsburgh is a cool city...been there many times for concerts and games. People there are pretty friendly. If kickoff is noon, we'll probably head out about 7am and get there by 9....the Freaklings are pumped to go to a game at the Steelers stadium.
The Freaklings, Dana and I decided it would be best if they skipped playing football this fall. Jake needs to get his grades up a bit and wants to get more involved with music. Josh is already in the band and choir and adding 2 hours of practice every night for 3 months and games on Saturday is gonna be too much.
I am torn...I wanted them to play but they didn't seem to be 100% committed and Dana and I confirmed that last night. If their heart isn't into playing now, maybe in a year or two.
OTOH, this frees up every Saturday so we'll be at most of the BG games again this season. Boise State, Wyoming and NIU are the only ones we won't be able to make. No time restraints on tailgating, either.

Kudos to you & Dana. IMO, you absolutely are doing the right thing.
Don't worry, there will be plenty of time to get the boys prepared so you can sit with the players' parents in about 8 years.
I just want them to be happy and do things that interest them.
