It's hard to believe it's been five years since he and Lou Jr. were at homecoming.

Very sad that he's gone. He lived a long and apparently pretty healthy life. I can only hope to be as lucky.

His influence will go on for a very long time.

We can probably expect some sort of memorial at the first home game this year.

Speaking of which, I emailed Dr. Hayward about doing something like either a small tribute to him or even another show similar to what was done in '03. Either way, Dr. Hayward knows about it, and I'm sure she will be thinking about something to do in Tribute to him.

edit: had to re-read the email she sent back to me...She said that we'll either honor him in a show or somewhere in pre-game.

I've been trying all day to think of a good way to permanantly tribute him in pregame. We could use the "touch out" to him since it isn't used at all anymore.

Well, most of the arrangements the FMB plays in pregame are Marini arrangements....Don't get me wrong, I have all the respect in the world for Mr. Marini, but I think it would be enough to do a one time tribute of some sort, considering this. (Unless the music/arrangements for pregame were ever to change significantly, which I don't see happening.)

If I might add... I was a local High School student in the early 70s . Our band director used to purchase A Lou Marini Soundpower Arrangement, very often. We used the scores and I found them really pretty spiffy.
I just learned a week ago of Mr. Marini’s death. I didn’t see it when he died, but I am real sure he leaves behind on heck of a musical legacy.
