How (if at all) will it impact PJ Pope? I've been hearing we (the Bears) might sign Alexander, and I couldn't complain about that, but would love to see PJ get a shot at the 53 man roster (though I know PT isn't likely right now, would be nice to see him have a shot).

A complete back, Freak, no doubt. Good instincts, could break tackles, make people miss and outrun many, many defenders. Add to that great hands, disciplined routes (especially for a RB) and fearless (and sound) blocking and you've got a special player.Falconfreak90 wrote:PJ is the best running back I've ever seen at BG. Pope was just unreal...all the things he can do and well. Would love to see PJ make the roster there.
Good luck, PJ...

Amen to that. I loved watching him play. I remember Urban Meyer telling a story about Pope. PJ was playing in one of the summer all star games (either Big 33 or North/South here in OH) and Earle Bruce called Meyer during the game raving about Pope saying BG was getting the best RB in the state.
Had Pope not gotten injured in 2005, there is no doubt he would have broken Dave Preston's career rushing record. Preston was a hell of a back himself.

But Mike, the funniest part of this story is that, when I met Urban Meyer for the 1st time at a Cleve. alum. function, he told me that the kid from St. Ed's was going to be his "feature back"..When I asked him about Pope, he said, " he's good too...but the Ed's kid can be great" or something similar...too bad this never came into fact.Falconfreak90 wrote:87,1987alum wrote:A complete back, Freak, no doubt.
