Tim O'Shea out at OU

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Wonder who will get that job... not the best timing for OU to start a search, but it'll be fun to watch.

Wow...he's going to have a challenge on his hands taking over a new D1 program.

O'Shea always had good teams at OU, but I always felt his teams had motivation issues. The effort would often just disappear.

I'll admit, I have that same issue on beautiful Friday afternoons.... ;-)

If OU could ever get a solid coach they would have the right formula for a basketball program that could very well dominate the MAC...facilities + tradition + campus + alumni + recruiting. If I were another league looking to "poach" a MAC member, OU would probably be my first choice in basketball.

Larry Hunter and O'Shea have had some talent over the years, but haven't gotten it done consistently. OU is a sleeping giant in the MAC and the right coach could awaken it and spell bad news for the rest of the league.

I've always thought the same thing about OU. If they could hire someone of the caliber of Steve Hawkins or Jim Christian, OU could have a perennial top 40 program.

Via Ray's site ( www.hoopwise.com ) Bucknuts.com is reporting that OSU lead assistant, John Groce, is very interested in the OU job... IMHO, that would be huge for OU and their program!

Looks like Groce will be the man at OU. This is a huge hire for the Bobcats.

Groce is an impressive get for Ohio and the MAC. However, the man is a climber and is simply positioning himself for whenever Sean Miller leaves Xavier or the next sexy job opens up.

If he has any modicum of success, he'll get out of dodge faster than Urban Meyer.
