UnFALCONbelievable! That beautiful bird is going to be HUGE! A B!G thanks to Mr. Belk and everyone else making this possible. Perhaps someone could find contact info for him so that we can send out thanks personally?
And, if we're going to have a spirit plaza, what better place could there be for the Doyt statue that we've all wished for for so long? Perhaps Doyt on one side, Anderson on the other? Hmm...

Perhaps we could point the statue so that if the bird "were to" take off it would take a 23-foot dump all over the glASS bowl?ZiggyZoomba wrote:Yeah... that's close....Redwingtom wrote:Thought I would post this for comparison sake:

Thanks for the info. I hope they keep it coming!quote: Originally posted by BourbonFalcon:

I know a little bit more about it, but I think there are going to be some more announcements along the line and I don't want to rob anyone of their thunder, so let's just say it's going to be what we've all hoped BGSU would have for quite some time...

This is incredible news. Hooray for donors giving us money to do stuff.
I suppose we'll get a lot of people complaining that this money isn't going toward rebuilding University Hall, or repaving parking lots. F 'em. This is going to be the most awesome thing ever. Most BCS schools don't even have statues in front of their stadiums, most certainly not 23-foot ones! And I agree, if we could build the statue of Doyt Perry on the other side of Falcon Plaza, our world would be much more complete.

Hear Hear! After 45 years, it's about time athletics gets their turn.bgsufalcon24 wrote: I suppose we'll get a lot of people complaining that this money isn't going toward rebuilding University Hall, or repaving parking lots. F 'em.
At the risk of offending 95% of the people on the board, I think we should just enjoy and appreciate this incredibly unique opportunity without getting greedy and demanding additional goodies. This was a specific individual with a passion for building sculptures, not necessarily BGSU, and he's already maxed out.
We can't afford to channel the limited resources of our regular donors into relics when our athletic department budget is $2 million dollars behind the next lowest budget in the MAC. We have to prioritize, and luxuries like statues should take a back seat to things that can immediately help our programs win, like recruiting budgets and coaches salaries.
Also, the last time I checked, we still have Anderson Arena and Doyt L. Perry stadium, so it's not like these great men are being ignored or forgotten.

If I was a betting man I'd say site location #6 is the first choice with #7 being the 2nd. The "new entrance" to the university was supposed to be Mercer street, however.

And am I seeing it right that one of the choices is in exactly the same spot where we already have a baseball stadium? I may have missed it, but are there plans to build a new field somewhere else?
