Sentinel today says the coaches are fighting over Corey Partridge, who is a FR, and currently playing CB. But, Coach Brandon says he is "special" with the ball in his hands and it will be "hard to keep him off offense."

At the least, he should be able to return kicks....

Interesting!! My thinkings lead me to say we need more help at certain secondary positions than on offense at this point but who knows. Just where would he go on offense? returning kicks or punts might be ideal. Are they thinking of playing him this year?? Because if not then why the fighting now?

Interesting enough, Corey has been working out both ways from day one. He is special when he has the ball in his hands and he has great hands. He was stuck playing QB his senior year in HS (no other athlete on the team), but his junior year he lead his team in receiving and had a game where he had 11 catches for 210 yard performance.

As for punt returning, he lead his conference with 22 returns for 490 yards and 3 touchdowns, that's an average of 22.3 yds a return.

Corey also played DB all three years of his varsity experience, he is good at DB but wasn't tested alot as other teams would just never thrown to his side of the field.

Corey can produce on either side of the ball and he is willing to play what ever position will benefit the team the most. He is very unselfish and only wants to win.

I think it's just great that Corey can begin to contribute right off the bat.

During the reception to announce the 2004 recruiting class, Coach Brandon compared Corey's versatility to Cole Magner's. I think that's about as high a compliment as you'll get in BG these days. I was impressed with his ability to break on the ball (at least on the film we saw) He'd look awful good at CB right now...

Sure is! Glad to have you--remember when you signed on after signing day. Great to have Corey as a Falcon. Any intelligence on redshirt vs. immediate play?

#1, anytime a player can produce on either side of the ball is excellent. Corey sounds like he has the perfect attitude for achieving team goals as well as personal.

#2, heck yeah it's legal. I am kinda hoping I'll be doing the same thing in, oh, about 10 years!

Josh is doing very well in his first year of football. He is working with the O and D lines. I must say I'm very proud of his hard work. About to enter 2nd grade, celebrating his 8th birthday this coming Tuesday and knocking heads on the football field. 8)

Looking forward to seeing Corey on the team. Remember to come over to the AZZ.com tailgate area by the golf course hill and say hi before & after the games!

From talking to Corey, all the feed back points towards not being redshirted. My opinion is that a redshirt would help him acclimate to the program, college classes and allow him to add a few pounds of muscle. Of course 6'0" 180 pounds is not that bad of a size for a CB.

Corey's attitude is to get on the field and contribute as soon as possible. I don't think he wants to redshirt. At this point I think the redshirt is unlikely. If they offer him a choice he will not take a redshirt.

Yes, Corey could provide a very good backup for the current set of DBs and also offer a good backup for the current WRs. I am sure the coaching staff will make the right decision that best suits/helps the team and Corey will run with that.

I will definately visit the tailgate parties, thanks for the invite.

Agreed. It is a sure sign that we're progressing as a program when we're bringing in athletes of this caliber. The only way you can play both ways in Div1A is if you're an outstanding athlete. The type of athlete that we didn't see in BG 5-6 years ago. Now we're getting them, and that has me thrilled, although I really would like a couple of them to stay on defense!

Yes, under one stipulation. You must promise not to take too much offense if we criticize him one day. Just know that we may complain about a play a player makes or fails to make, but we are supporting them to the end. We are thrilled to have your son, and all the others, wearing Orange & Brown. Although sometimes in the heat of the season we will complain about a player, we still feel fortunate to have them as Falcons.

Stop on by the tailgate sometime this year. Early in the year will likely be light beer, moving on to Killians or maybe some Sam Adams by late in the year. Tailgate menus change week to week, but suffice to say we ALWAYS eat well out there! Omelettes, perch, brats, PIZZA ROLLS

, the list goes on...

Well Spart43 , sounds like your kid is really good. If he's as talented as the coaches are saying he is, then I say play em this year no question. How fast is Cory anyway?

Believe me I won't take offense if Corey makes a bonehead play and some of you trash him. I will most likely agree. He knows when he makes a mistake and tries to learn from them. All players make mistakes even the best of them. When you put yourself on a big stage and make a mistake you expect some of it. Just remember he is giving his all and doesn't do it on purpose.

As for his speed, all the recruiting agencies list him as a 4.4 man. Two months ago his high school coach clock him at 4.35 and 4.39. We worked speed before he came up so I am hoping he will improve as he gets stronger within the strength program there.

I know right now he is pretty sore and beat up from his first week at practice. And I know over the next two weeks it doesn't get any easier. He will adapt and be better for it.

Thanks for the welcoming words, I am very excited about the upcoming season. I won't mention the fact that I ran cross country and track at Kent State in college. Just glad Corey went to a MAC school instead of the big 10. They seemed very cold and distant on our visits. BGSU was like family.

That is all I would ever ask of any kid. Effort is so important. Every player will make mistakes. My oldest son Josh turns 8 today and has his first football scrimmage! I am so excited for him. He will make plenty of mistakes but the important thing is he learns from them.

BTW, Kent State? Hey, it's our sister school and a MAC member. Could be a lot worse...like UT!

Again welcome to the board. Actually Corey's number was/is one of the several I was considering. Rather than order a jersey of a senior and have to re-do it every year, I wanted to order one of a soph/frosh that we have high hopes for and continue to wear it throughout their career.

What are some of the numbers the rest of you have ordered? I'm sure 4 and 21 are popular choices?

I'm thinking 4, 11, 16, 18, 24, 27, 28, 30, 39, 44, 78 and 83.

Omar, Winovich, AT, Waldron, Deaudre Perry, Macon, Petey Hood, Dozier, Corey, Schaefer, Lichtensteiger (local connection for me) and Hutcherson.

It sure will be watching Erique and Corey as lock-down guys on the corners for the next 4-5 years . . . I'm hoping defense too.

I was looking to order a jersey and of course wanted to get Corey's number. I talked with him and he said he is getting a new number and he wasn't sure which one either 18 or 26. So it won't be 39. I will be waiting to hear for sure which one before I order. I will post it when I find out.
