If I was a betting man I'd say site location #6 is the first choice with #7 being the 2nd. The "new entrance" to the university was supposed to be Mercer street, however.
Could all the new construction on Mercer Rd now be at all in preparation for all this?

I think #7 would be the best looking, with #6 second best, but I would not want #7 to be the choice. If the arena were put at #7, that would block a lot of wind coming into the stadium. In a way, the wind is one of our best home field advantages in football. Our players practice there all the time and know exactly how to play in the wind, while other teams aren't as experienced with that sort of wind, and I'd hate to see a new basketball arena spoil a rather unique home field advantage. For that reason, #6 is my favorite. It would mean a need for more parking because that location is right in the middle of Lot 6, but that may finally get the wheels moving for a parking garage on campus.

Geez... sorry I didn't see this earlier. Stop speculating, it's being built at site 6.

Or, disregard and continue speculating. Your call. ;-)

I thought I actually heard that #5 was the spot... though I'm glad it's not. (Though I can see how, direction-wise, the two could be confused.)

And #3 would have made for a funky arena.

Doubtful. I believe it's more the city trying to show campus how they really feel.

During move-out, they replaced the road that runs by the big Offenhauer lot. Now during O-reg, cheerleading and vball camps, they decide to tear Mercer up...some irony there I think.

If this is true...I'm hoping they build some more lots for on-campus students :D

Had a chance to talk with Kerm Stroh at the Cleve. Regional Advancement Strategy session, honoring Pres. Ribeau.... my impression is that the center will be "DUE EAST" of the Mileti Alum. Bldg.

My only surprise (and disappointment) is that this project won't even START til 2010, with completion by 2012. Thought we'd get this underway a bit earlier than that, but it appears not.

Ahhhh, what do you know? ;)

Anyway, are they planning on replacing all that lost parking lot space by paving over some of the intramural fields? Either way, it kind of stinks that they are placing the thing on the only paved parking spaces out there!

That is a great point. I don't have an endless stream of money to send to BGSU but I do what I can...EVERY dollar helps. The Falcon Club is a great thing to be associated with and is growing. Few people can match donations like the Stroh's, Sebo's and such but you can get involved in some capacity. I'd give more each year but have to budget $$$ for season tix.

Even buying $5 worth of 50/50 tix at each game can add up. I'll tell you one thing...if I ever won the lottery, GC would be getting a call from me first thing the next day.

Everyone can do something...the FC is well worth the time and investment and I know our student-athlete and coaches appreciate it! I love getting calls from the student-athletes thanking me for my donations. It shows me they are grateful and appreciative.

The Mercer Road construction is because the road was falling apart. In fact, it has turned into a little more work north of Merry Street because the sub base was in such bad shape. There will also be a couple of crosswalk improvements, although not the full stop lights some people wanted. The work is costing the city about $400,000.

This is really cool. At first glance my first thought was "has the sculpture ever seen a Peregrine Falcon?"

The more I look at the image, however, I was a bit off on my initial reaction.

I fail to understand the references to Toiletto. They have their Ajax statue (which I respect) and we sill soon have this (which I will worship.)

You respect that missile? Besides, their mascot is a rocket.

I hold a respect for Alan Colmes, but that doesn't mean I agree with his politics.

Besides, when does a representation of your school mascot have to be EXACT? You know that the mascot for Texas A&M Aggies is a Collie, right?
