How many tickets have already been sold?
I've been told that the AD was offering a lot of the different businesses and very large groups tickets at around $4.50/ticket. The UAW alone is offering each employee up to at least 5 tickets for free.
I don't like the "for free" deals personally... It's not just that I've paid out for our season tickets...it's that people who get tix for free have no "urgency" to go to the game....Weather looks shaky, other plans conflict etc. all result in empty seats. I'd rather have them charging the $4.50 per ticket. At least then there might be some, "don't want to waste money..let's go" attitude.
The thing that's always bugged me about all the freebies and whatnot that we give out is how much it actually works against selling season tickets. For years I never bought season tickets, because I didn't need to. There was actually a season a few years ago where I got in for free to every single game. I'd usually just come out, tailgate, and somewhere along the way an extra ticket would show up.

The way we continue to give so many tickets away really has made it so that actually owning season tickets is a bad bargain. The only thing we really get out of the deal is the same seats each week. Now I had no problems re-upping my season ticket package because I look at it as a donation to the athletic department more than anything else, but my point remains. From purely a bargain standpoint all of our freebies & promotions actually decrease our season ticket sales, IMO.

Of course I think a lot of these freebies and whatnot are being done to get people into the stands for the stupid NCAA attendance policies.

I just wish we could sell out every game without practically begging people to get into the stands. Spending the day at a BG football game & tailgate is just plain fun, I don't know why we have to beg people to come out and see that.

Well said Hammb. I can't think of many things better or more fun than tailgating and hitting the stands inside the Doyt for BG Football....maybe a Tesla concert in the front row but even that would take a backseat to any BG football game. Now, get Tesla to play the national anthem and provide a pre or post game concert and you have THEE perfect way to spend the day. :-D

6 measly weeks til we smack Pitt....

I'm trying to get a few to come. Word of mouth is the best.

Most teams I root for have the same problem with freebies v. non-freebies. But you have to do what you have to do to get people in the seats. But it just feels bad when you give out a bunch and get only a small percent redeemed.
