PITTSBURGH ATTENDANCE
Sorry, should have been a little more specific...
Its not pre-paid parking for both...Parking near Heinz for a Pitt game is a pre-paid ticket... But for the Pirates, its not.. You just roll up, give him his money, and park... So after I get out of the game, I'm just going to go up to the vendor, buy whatever it is a need to buy to keep my car in the lot, and continue the festivities...
When you park closer to PNC, it the reverse might happen...
One final option that I just thought about... There is a parking garage across the parking lot right b/w both PNC and Heinz... If you know someone who is hosting a tailgate, you can pay 10 bucks to park in the garage and most likely keep it there.. Hell, I've tailgated in the garage before... Drive up to the top where its open skys and start drinking... You'll be fine w/ parking..

I've debated it. Since we'd be in the area with not much else to do Saturday, a ball game at PNC could be good. We had a good time when we went to a game 3 years ago. "Pops" was one of my first favorite ballplayers.tiznow wrote:Are you going to the Bucs game on Saturday night? My family got tickets for Sunday's game. I plan on wearing my Bucs hat with a BG shirt on Sunday.
Sunday's game could be an option too, depending on the availability of some of our other plans on a holiday Sunday (art museum, Fallingwater, etc...)

THANKS PITTMAN
I just looked at the websites for Jerome Bettis' Grille and Primanti Bros. WOW!! Those will definitely be visited.
As you said Pittman, BG's and Pittsburgh's websites show the noon kick and ESPNU coverage.

Grille 36 is a really nice place. I stopped in after the last few Bucs games I went to, and have had a great experience every time. Not too expensive, either.
They are also open on mornings before Pitt and Steeler games with great breakfast specials. Of course, my breakfast will no doubt come off of Freak's grill and out of a bottle, but you get the idea.

Roll Along!

If you can the original Primanti's in the Strip District is the one to go to. It is open 24/7.SB-50 wrote:I just looked at the websites for Jerome Bettis' Grille and Primanti Bros. WOW!! Those will definitely be visited.

J4H, I like Bettis Grille as well.
Previously from PITTMAN:
-The last poster hit on our one big questionmark; our O-Line. While most believe we will be fine there, they will be somewhat unproven and probably a downgrade seeing as two of last years starters will be playing on sundays..
-While many of you know about McCoy, Pitt also has a senior RB who was a 2 year starter before McCoy came to Pitt, Stephens-Howling.. He is one to watch as well..
Our Defense was ranked 5th in the country last year.. We have one of the best front 4 in the country, an all-american at LB, and two play making safety's that were redshirted last year.. Rumor has it that our one safety, E. Fields, may very well play on Sundays when he is done at Pitt..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PITTMAN:
Here's the concern for BG. Phil Steele (who writes THE BEST college football mag in the country) rates both of your off. tackles in his top 60: 46th-Jason Pinkston, OT 6'4", 300 and 50th-Joe Thomas, 6'5", 300 (The top 60 equates to the top 25%; 120 D-1 teams, 240 OTs). Steele also ranks your RB stable as the 3rd best in the country behind Ohio St and Georgia. Also unfortunately for us, your D-line ranked #26.
The Falcons MUST win the turnover battle and stop the run, especially in the fourth quarter. Football is actually a very simple game, and Sheehan's best effort can be erased if we don't do those two things.
Primanti's or Bust!! There's a "Grille 27" (Eddie George) in Columbus near campus that is run by the same company. It's the identical webite, menu etc. Grille 27 is awesome and I'm looking forward to Grille 36.

IT ONLY GETS BETTER
I know The Falcon Nation will be strong for this game, but if you needed a little more motivation, there is a rib festival at Heinz Field that weekend.

PITT STARTING QB
Wannstedt names Junior Bill Stull as starter. Stull was 14 of 20 for 177 last year. He was the starter in '07, but was lost for the year in the opener. Stull beat out the 07 starter (Pat Bostick) for the job this year. We will still have to stop McCoy. However, I may be so full of Primanti Bros sandwiches and ribs not to even notice. GO FALCONS...BEAT PITT!!
COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS.COM PREDICTION
Bowling Green (0-0) at Pitt (0-0), 12:00 EST, Saturday, August 30
Why to watch:
With expectations percolating in Pittsburgh, the program absolutely, positively has to come through with a big season in 2008, and it absolutely, positively, has to come through with a hot start. It begins with a visit from Bowling Green. Ever since shocking West Virginia last December, the Panthers have been the trendy pick in the Big East to deliver a breakthrough, bowl-bound season. If they fall short with the nation ogling the results, fourth-year head coach Dave Wannstedt might find it hard to survive. In RB LeSean McCoy and LB Scott McKillop, Pitt has an All-American candidate on each side of the ball. After winning a surprising eight games with a young squad, the Falcons enter the season as one of the favorites to take the MAC East. The offense is among the league’s most explosive, returning eight starters from a unit that scored 30 points eight times in 2007.
Why Bowling Green might win:
With the passing of Tyler Sheehan, the receiving of Freddie Barnes, and the multi-dimensional talents of RB Anthony Turner, the Falcons have the ingredients of a prolific offense. If there’s a concern on the Pittsburgh defense, it’s with a secondary that has a few too many lapses and only picked off eight passes a year ago. The Panthers are far from destitute in pass defense, but they will get tested by a complex offense that welcomes back pass-catchers who accounted for more than 90% of last year’s receptions.
Why Pittsburgh might win:
Thin and undersized up front, Bowling Green won’t be able to stop the run. That’s not a plus considering McCoy is a threat to go for 100 yards each and every week. Against this Falcon D, 200 yards will be the target. The Panthers have concerns in the trenches, but it won’t be evident this week. With C.J. Davis and Jason Pinkston leading the way, Pitt will blow Bowling Green off the ball, creating running lanes for McCoy, LaRod Stephens-Howling, and Shariff Harris. With time to throw, Bill Stull, named the starter late this summer, will enjoy a successful return following last year’s season-ending injury in the opener.
Who to watch:
The Panthers are thrilled to be getting back WR Derek Kinder, who missed all of 2007 with an ACL injury. One of the Big East’s premier receivers before going out, he’ll make a good collection of players substantially more productive. Bowling Green has problems shutting down good receivers. With Kinder back, this is one of the deepest corps it’ll face all season.
What will happen:
Pittsburgh is for real. Well, at least for now. The Panthers will control the game on the ground with McCoy, wearing out an overmatched defense and keeping the Falcon offense on the sidelines for long stretches of time. Although Sheehan will make plays, he’ll also turn the ball when flushed from the pocket by hard-charging end Greg Romeus.
CFN Prediction: Pittsburgh 34 ... Bowling Green 17... Line: Pitt -12.5
