Penn St.

Post by Falcon137 »

Surprised this hasn't been brought up. Appologies if it has. But what is everyone's take on Penn St.? They look as bad as The U back in the day or the Bearcats when Huggie Bear was at the helm.

This is Joe Pa's last year.

He is done. Finally. Penn State needs to come back and make the Big Ten even stronger. I am tired of OSU, Wisconsin and Illinois carrying the conference.

Some Frickin competition would be nice once and a while.

Wow. I have the utmost respect for Joe Pa but that looks B A D. Really bad. He didn't do much to sway anyone's opinion...just saying it's a bunch of lies without backing it up ain't good.

Maybe it's time, Joe.

So, are you saying the Big 11 is weak? Would you like to see competition like they have in the SEC or Big 12? :-D

First, you don't know s**t about this being Paterno's last year. And it is out of line for you to even think you would know. The man is a legend. For a punk on the internet to talk smack about him, well, I guess that is what I would expect from you.

Second, Illinois carrying the Big Ten? You're joking right? They were 8-38 the four years prior to the 2007 season. Yep, they were really carrying the Big Ten then, weren't they. OBTW, Penn State was 27-11 over that stretch, including an 11-1 season where they were one play away from being undefeated

Joe came off looking very poorly in this piece. He seemed extremely out of touch with the situation.

I agree...he did not say anything substantial to refute the situations.

In the farther past days of Joe, Penn State was a class act program. I remember hearing about the national title win over Miami and one of their stars, I think on defense. Apparently, he was out too late one night and Joe was the first one to see him into the hotel. His punishment: he missed the entire national title game.

I have a whole lot of respect for Joe. I do wish he would have retired after the 2005 season, so now I hope he goes out on top and has another great season like that one. I am severely worried, though. It's one thing if several bad incidents happen all together in a month span. It's entirely different when its a continuing, multi-year trend.

Wow angry man....Is he your grandpa or something?

I never said that he wasn't a legend. I simply said that this will be his last year and it will be about time. What? I am not allowed to have an opinion? Are you going to violate my civil rights????? Communist!
You have to know when to call it quits and he missed it by two years. When you can't control your players anymore and have the off the field issues that he has been having then you have to wake up at some point and realize that you are holding the program back, step aside and move on.

Also, did you honsetly take the Illinois part of that seriously? Are you too stupid to see/realize that I was taking a shot at Michigan and Penn State for the piss poor inexcusable performances lately.

I believe what I am saying is that it would be nice for a little more competition in what is already the best conference in the universe that OSU just happens to dominate every year. It gets kind of boring beating everyone down by 35 points every Saturday. The only way OSU can find better competition right now is to schedule 12 games against the New England Patriots.
