Sad news
Today at practice Ransom blew out his knee again. It is not known how severe it is yet, but we should keep him in our prayers...hes had a rough couple years. Get healthy Eric!
Aw man, that sucks. We've got plenty of depth at RB, but I was really hoping he'd get a chance to hit the field and show off more of what he gave us in a game and a half in '07.
Get well, Eric!

Re: Sad news
OMG! Terrible, terrible news. I feel so bad for this kid. I really hope it's not going to be the news we all hope not to hear. I don't think a lot of people recognize what he brought to the table for BG because he never played a home game for BG. He was our starting RB last year when the season began for a reason.BGFootball wrote:Today at practice Ransom blew out his knee again. WOW! I cannot even imagine... I am hope this is a sprain... I really think the kid was in for a huge break out year and made it so difficult to guard this team in a split backfield....NO MAC linebacker could contain him and Geter in a split backfield... this would be a huge loss a lot bigger then some would think.

Agreed. When is enough, enough? I was so excited to see what he could come back and do for us again this season. Now, my fingers are crossed for him and I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the verdict is.Falconfreak90 wrote:You have got to be kidding me....can't this kid catch a break???![]()

Saying this sucks for Eric Ransom is an understatement! I really hope that he hasn't had any permanent damage done to his knees. I don't know enough about ligament tears in the knee to fully understand long term complications, but it would seem after several tears in the knees, that something might be permanently damaged. I hope he can catch a break and this is not as severe as it could be!

You can keep fixing them with surgery, but with anything except a weld, it weakens more every time. After the 3rd or 4th time, it's probably about time to hang up the cleats.falconfan1999 wrote:Saying this sucks for Eric Ransom is an understatement! People have come back from multiple ones to play sports though. After the first though, it's more of a mental thing IMO. Going through rehab and PT for so long to get it back to normal takes a lot out of you. To have the same injury again and know you have to go through all the rehab again is a crappy feeling.
I wish him the best and hope it's not too serious!

Per Ryan's latest blog, Eric Ransom did indeed injury his knee again. Other not-good news out of camp, Derek Brighton had surgery on his ankle and is out 6-8 weeks:
Eric Ransom re-injured his knee Friday at practice. Coach Brandon said they are awaiting the results of an MRI, but obviously this doesn’t sound good. Ransom is easy to cheer for. Talk to him for a minute and you realize how much pride he has. Such a shame.
Also, Derek Brighton is out 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery on his ankle today. Coach Brandon believes the injury occurred during the summer and worsened once camp started.

Brighton's injury likely won't mean such, since we're so deep at wide receiver. However, I'm still awaiting the news on Ransom's injury. We really need to know about him because he's a guy that could really, really help us this year, both as a running back and a receiver out of the backfield. Hopefully he's okay.
Agreed. Brighton "should" be back come the MAC schedule, so that is very good. Ransom on the other hand.......bgsufalcon24 wrote:Brighton's injury likely won't mean such, since we're so deep at wide receiver. However, I'm still awaiting the news on Ransom's injury.
