First off, I want it made clear that I love the fact we're adding a new scoreboard and it's cool to see Miami do the same thing. But I've got to admit that Miami's board "looks" much better than ours. Both boards may be very much alike, but just the appearance of Miami's makes it look much nicer.
This kind of topic leads me to one of my biggest pet peeves with Bolwing Green. We usaully have a generic type of a look to a lot of our campus facilities and buildings and I don't know why? I know we are not an old campus (1910) like a school such as Miami (1809), but for a place that is so flat and open, I always wondered why we don't try to spruce things up with more attractive architecture with our buildings and grounds. From our block dorms, limited trees and buildings that are built more to look like something (a bird, a book, a piano), why not just build them to look like "college buildings?" Many schools across the country chartered around or after BG have. Our older part of campus has some of that look, but then we hit decades of bad design.
With this new scoreboard, I know it's not finished yet, but something tells me once the top goes on, it'll be standing on those goofy looking polls in the end. So once again, we've made an improvement which is great, but it could end up looking a lot better with a little more design and money.
Looks aren't everything, but they sure as heck don't hurt.

Some truth to this. West Hall, for instance, has not aged well.BGSU33 wrote: Our older part of campus has some of that look, but then we hit decades of bad design.
But Jerome Library is fantastic. Math Science is pretty cool, too. And I really like the rec center.
It will look a lot better when the tent city is up.With this new scoreboard, I know it's not finished yet, but something tells me once the top goes on, it'll be standing on those goofy looking polls in the end. Also, I'm sure if Krebs had the money, we'd pour more of it into landscaping and the knick-knacks we've discussed so often here.
Fact is, he managed to get this scoreboard up, and that alone is an achievement.
I would imagine some of the aestetic issues will be addressed in due time. I'm glad we didn't wait to get the scoreboard, though.

One thing that I would like to see done is the paving of the parking lot outside of the Doyt. I don't see why this isn't done? It is funny how they can pay to fix $idney's house, but they can't pave the parking lot. Ludicrous
Anyway I think that Paul Krebs is doing a good job with what he is given. I am sure that all of the things that we are mentioning on here are things that he wants to see done. However, these things cost money and unfortunately in the age of budget constraints, some things go unnoticed. Hopefully all of these new marketing ideas, such as the logo, will help to create interest in BG and people will buy more BG apparrel and gain an interest in BG by coming to the Doyt and seeing a game. Then, we can accomplish all of these projects that need attention.

It doesn't bother me at all. Heck, I think I *prefer* that the lot is unpaved.GoFalcons4 wrote:One thing that I would like to see done is the paving of the parking lot outside of the Doyt. I wouldn't take a nickel away from a SAC or landscaping improvements to pave that lot.

And why pave these lots that have cars in them 5 or 6 times a year?? Half the time the lots aren't full anyway.Schadenfreude wrote:It doesn't bother me at all. ahhh WMU was a nightmare. We ended up having to park a good ten minutes walk away at Kalamazoo College were pretty betting on whether or not our cars would get towed. Yes parking at OU isn't very good either, not nearly as bad as WMU. Thank goodness after the game made up for all my troubles before the gameFalconfreak90 wrote:And at least we have plenty of lots...ever try parking at UT, WMU or Ohio U?
