I won't.

If being on a "smaller scale" like BG means less pressure, why did Rojas shank just about every punt he touched? He had one good game, at FIU.

And, smaller scale like a 39-16 BG win, at KU on 9/21/02?

Obvious observations, but really now, one good season hardly makes Kansas a powerhouse. It just always fashionable to take a shot at a MAC team, even if they've beaten you. Whatever.

agreed. I guess a good place to overcome home sickness is Lawrence, Kansas.

Got a chip on your shoulder? That "bigger scale" comment is completely accurate. They're in the Big 12, we are in the MAC. Their stadium holds over 50,000 people, ours holds just over 20,000. (Their coach is pushing 4 bills, ours is probably close to two. ) So I have no problem with the "bigger scale" comment.

I think Rojas would have (insert your own words here - such as succeeded/enjoyed his time/developed into a good one/been a staple of our special teams unit, etc.) at BG if, one, he had any resemblance of blocking up front that allowed him more than a half second to get off a punt with our swiss cheese formation and protection (or lack thereof), and two, if example number one panned out (which it rarely did), that he could have punted in a traditional set more often instead of having to roll out of the pocket and kick rugby-style. I’m usually one of the first ones to get upset or disappointed when we lose a kid due to transferring or leaving a program, but in his case, I can’t say I blamed him. The kid had to be scared $hitless half the time he stepped back there to “attempt” to get off a punt without eating the ball or being greeted by the opposition up close and personal. Rojas just got rocked numerous times back there and our special teams were just flat out horrible two years ago. Not just our punting, our place kicking, our kick and punt coverage, we were flat out awful! I think BG and Rojas are better off now all the way around. I’m not saying he didn’t have a part in any of the sour outcome, but Ray Guy in his prime would have struggled in the situation Rojas found himself in at BG two years ago.

Rojas was awful here. I don't care what anyone says. We used to joke about how terrible he and Ellis were every single game. I stopped counting how many punts almost went into the stands from Rojas when I ran out of fingers.

The best Rojas moment ever was when he ran for a first down on a fake punt when BG was down like 14 points at home and spiked the ball about 30 feet in the air.

I wish him the best of luck at Kansas.

I said it before that season and I'll continue to say it now. If you're relying on true freshman at kicker and punter your coaching staff has f***ed up royally. Even the best (which Rojas WAS) recruits are not ready to kick at the D1A level right out of HS. There is too much pressure, it's too much faster, and they almost always struggle.

We took a talented punter and forced him to play right out of HS. Then we put him in a scheme that couldn't block for s**t and had him rolling out right or left half the time. Essentially we put a player in a position to fail and then ran him out of town when he did.

Yeah, he was inconsistent, but he was also talented. I hope he does well at Kansas. It may be fun to pick on him because he performed poorly, but I'd be willing to bet that the next punter we force to play as a freshman will struggle a bit as well. It's just stupid to try and rely on freshmen kickers...

What happened in 2006 can't be changed. I hope Rojas does well at Kansas. We improved out kicking game so it looks like both sides came out better.

Less than 432 hours til kickoff....SA-WEET.

Me too. I didn't want to re-hash the disaster that was our special teams two years, that why I said I would hold my tongue. The kid deserve better than he got here. Good luck!

+1, the failure was on the coaches & entire ST's unit that year, not Rojas. I hope he does well at KU.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Well....the BG to KU track worked well for me!

...and for those of you that were talking about Kansas not being step up, let me remind you that they WON a BCS BOWL GAME last year. The ORANGE BOWL specifically against VIRGINIA TECH. Oh yeah, and they are ranked in the preseason top 15 this year.

I love the Falcons, and will always root for the Falcons over KU, but the truth is that there is more support in a city block in Lawrence, KS for the Jayhawks than there is in all of Northwest, OH for the Falcons (okay there is a little exaggeration, but you get the point) .

Go Falcons, Go Jayhawks, I love you all!
