And yes, there really is, or was, a National Playground Championship, featuring a lot of ex-college and occasional NBA guys whose names would only register with total basketball geeks.
Hey, you talk about playground legends, you gotta bring up a guy named "Lamar Mundane..."

My advice to you Grant: Sell your tickets ASAP to some sucker. These tickets will be very, very easy, unless it is a Michigan State/Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio State final four (or unc :-(). about a 70K capacity. Assuming it is like the past few years of the lottery, you are going to be in the upper deck, the sightlines are awful, even in most of the lower level. Go ask and Kansas fan who didn't sit in the first 15 rows what they thought of the view. The weekend and atmosphere is great though. get there Friday and go to the open practices. Sunday Coke ususally puts on a free concert, though they usually get crap acts (John Melloncamp was the headline in 06 in Indy, I believe Kid Rock was this past year in San Antonio). Also, agree with whoever said to go to the big hotel, I met a ton of coaches in Indy, and I was just loitering there when the tornado came so they had to evacuate me from the bottom floor into a ballroom or something away from glass on the second floor, they also had to evacuate coaches on the top 2 floors so I was just chilling during a tornado watching the womens final 4 with John Thompson, Oliver Purnell, Dave Leitao, a bunch of coaches. Also Kevin Harlen was standing nect to me with his daughter (fine...imagine the perks of dating her, free tickets to the final 4 every year...$$$).
But evidently the NCAA wants only venues with 60K minnimum capacity for final fours from now on so who cares about the fan right? eff the fans, this non profit has some money to make. Reliant won't be any better in a few years (ask Texas fans what they thought, despite having nearly the entire crowd there, NO homecourt advantage for them because everyone was so far away.) Lucas Oil, where it will be in 10, is supposed to have the best sightlines for bball so lets pray they do. I think last year was probably the last year that would be good for the spectators.
I'm thinking I might go up anyway this year just for the semis (got class on Monday, so only go if someone I care about is in) and tickets will probably be avail for $20.

Trust me if Illinois, Duke, UNC, Louisville, Kentucky, Arizona, or any other power is in the Final 4 they will bring an unreal amount of fans to the final 4. Tickets to the Final 4 will never be that low, because the NCAA gives enough away to corporations the game will sell out, each school only gets so many. If the final 4 is Louisville, N. Carolina, UCLA, and Tennessee (all for arguments sake) good luck finding a ticket. Each school gets tickets...so no matter who plays in the Final 4 you will be fighting with huge fan bases for tickets, meaning you couldn't find a $20 last row seat (no ticket will be sold at face value). Winning final 4 tickets is a sweet thing, there is a reason winning them is such a big deal. Keep the tickets and have a great time!

You can scalp in for much cheaper than that. when IU was last in it, I sat 10 rows from the floor for $60. Paid $90 for a seat 15 rows back in 06 for UCLA/Florida. Just be patient. Definately get rid of your Monday ticket, after two of the teams get knocked out on Saturday, the losers sell and there are often a few thousand extras floating around then. Duke doesn't bring that many fans (VERY small school with small alumni base...tickets to see them are cheap in the ACC tournament unless they are playing in the same session as UNC and nc state...not many Duke fans were in DC last year for the tournament either.) have you ever scalped at an Final four before?
