2 sources say BG , 1 for OU as of now. Hmmm. Sounds like a nice pick up if we are indeed have a verbal from him and he signs.

Also per rivals, looks like solid verbal Austin Collier could continue the tradition of a slash player ala Turner and Barnes.

Balanced rushing and passing, note the TD to Int ratio

Really doesn't matter what he says right now. Mid-February is the important time when he actually signs his name on the dotted line.

From the articles I've read on him OSU is his dream school. What happens if he blows up this fall and has a great season? Maybe OSU and other BCS schools start calling? I try not to get too excited on verbals with kids looking for a Big Ten offer originally.

Willoughby South QB Patrick Nicely commits to Bowling Green

Posted by Tim Warsinskey August 18, 2008 14:39PM

A campus where he felt comfortable and a chance to compete for a starting job in 2010 were enough for Willoughby South quarterback Patrick Nicely to give Bowling Green an oral commitment Sunday.

Nicely (6-4, 215) said he will redshirt his freshman year.

"That will put me in a spot to compete for being the starter for four years," he said. "They have a very good quarterback tradition and I can go in and compete for a starting job."

Nicely, who lives in Eastlake, said he felt at home on the campus. He also considered offers from Ohio University and Akron. He is undecided about a major, but considering a career in orthodontics.

Nicely passed for 1,700 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on a 3-7 team last season.

That seems to solve the question to where he is going as of now, right guys? Where in those quotes would anyone think he's going anywhere else right now?

Nicely is a pocket passer that happens to be a good athlete and could play in the spread or pro-style attack. He has good size and strength and is capable of standing in the pocket, delivering the football in the face of the rush and is tall enough to scan the entire field. He shows good footwork and set up from both the shotgun and from under center. Possesses adequate-to-good arm strength and is most effective on underneath and intermediate routes. When on time and in rhythm he can be an effective guy that will move the chains. Throws a soft, catchable ball, displays solid accuracy and does a good job leading receivers on underneath routes. Appears to possess solid leadership and toughness in the pocket, has the presence to move a round and buy time and when he takes off and runs, he can be a load to bring down when he gets that frame rolling. Has better foot speed than you would imagine given his appearance. However, Nicely can be a "pusher" instead of a passer with his delivery mechanics. Really props the ball up high by his ear and you can tell that he has to cock and pull back to get any real power on his deep throws. Is not an overly smooth or fluid passer with his release. Must develop better timing with routes that require a quick five step, no re-set throw--- especially outside the numbers. Overall, Nicely has some redeeming qualities, is a good athlete and his size is excellent. He will continue to develop and hopefully improve arm strength a bit. Solid prospect.

South senior quarterback Patrick Nicely keeps rolling on the football camp circuit. After strong performances at camps at Penn State and Cleveland Browns Stadium for elite high school players, Nicely was named the top overall offensive performer at Ohio State's Senior Day Advance Camp last Sunday.

Nicely said there were more than 400 players at the camp, and close to 45 quarterbacks that he was competing against. "It was fun to throw the ball around and gauge where I am against some of the top players in Ohio," Nicely said. "I think I did really well, and I was happy with my passing and my footwork."

Obviously, Nicely's performance made a couple of college recruiters happy as well. Nicely received two more official offers while at OSU on Sunday. Akron and Ohio University have joined MAC member Bowling Green in offering Nicely a scholarship.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Nicely said he was told he needs to work on pocket presence and his accuracy, but that he has the arm strength and the intelligence to play in the Big Ten. He is now officially on Ohio State's radar as well. "I'm always looking to get better, but I pride myself on working really hard," Nicely said.

WELCOME TO THE NEST???

GO FALCONS!!

Yeah, but ESPN gets their BG info from this board...when they saw that many of us thought he committed to BG, they changed it.

i have an inside source, he's holding out for an offer from BC or OSU. if those don't happen, he's fully intending to go to BG.
