They do this in NCAA softball as well.

The "International Tie Breaker" has been around at least 15 years in softball. I'm pretty sure the NSA started it first. It really isn't that terrible of a rule and is pretty damn comparable to what the NCAA does for football.

Let me guess....you were a defenseman! :-D
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Ties are for soccer. Shootouts make the game more exciting, if the defenseman doesn't wanna watch a "pretty boy" score a goal, he should do something about it in regulation.

CW08 is a maroon. If I stop the opposition each time and have no minuses on the stat sheet...Then I damn well did do something about it. A defenceman is their to prevent goals not to score them. As for the tie being for soccer. The NHL never had shootouts until after the lockout. Look D-men don't need an array of breakaway moves. Not even Bobby Orr could go end to end in a breakaway. CW08 stick to your video games.
Dave Ellett is a hero. A Bowling Green Falcon and a Former Jet and Maple Leaf. What more can a Winnipegger ask for.

If you're implying that I didn't play hockey, think again. My family tradition in the sport goes back three generations.
