Better to be a stepping stone for a coach than mired in mediocrity or worse.bgbrandon wrote:brilliant idea dummy, bring in another YOUNG person so we can continue to be a stepping stone for coaches?MotorCityChamps wrote:if we lose coach brandon(hopefully not), lets go out of house and get another young offensive mind.....i feel that brandon would not bring beckman with him, he will probably go somewhere else to be DC.
Beckman at HC sounds disastrous to me. But then again, I'd throw a party if he got hired away from us so he's not our DC any longer either.

If Brandon plans on sticking around, I wonder if he isn't a little more helpful this offseason in getting Beckman a new job. You know, not firing him or anything, but making sure he gets placed at another university somewhere.hammb wrote:Better to be a stepping stone for a coach than mired in mediocrity or worse.bgbrandon wrote:brilliant idea dummy, bring in another YOUNG person so we can continue to be a stepping stone for coaches?MotorCityChamps wrote:if we lose coach brandon(hopefully not), lets go out of house and get another young offensive mind.....i feel that brandon would not bring beckman with him, he will probably go somewhere else to be DC.

Right on....until something, if anything, changes, let's relax on this. Speculation is just that...speculation.1987alum wrote:Sweet mother of God!
We're just two days removed from getting a bowl bid and there's chatter - with no root in any reality - about our head coach leaving?
Good gracious, can't we at least wait until we start hearing his name come up in some reasonably legitimate places as being in play before we start talking about his replacement? I mean, it's not like we don't have plenty of other more relevant issues to discuss on this board at this time.

I agree, he's not going anywhere. Do you think that if the arm-chair qb's on this site can find about 800 things wring with his coaching, then ad's at other schools don't see the same thing? They will pick him apart and find that he is a very good football coach, but not yet ready to step up to the next level. I just fear he will be sooner than I want to see him go. If I had my way (which is never the case) he would improve vastly as i think he will very soon, and magically fall in love with below average attendance and below zero windchills. Then he'd be here for life!
Or, at least let's put all the Brandon speculation into one thread, instead of a million different threads with the same content. Pretty please?1987alum wrote: Good gracious, can't we at least wait until we start hearing his name come up in some reasonably legitimate places as being in play before we start talking about his replacement? Thanks for the good laugh Cork. I don't think that we need to worry too much though. I think that recruits should look elsewhere this football season. Our current Falcons will disperse to other programs while us fans wait out a new coaching staff. We can worry about recruiting next year and let the athletic department make the necessary adjustments this year.Look sheep! The gates open! Lets post something to hurt recruiting!
