Everytime I see that game on BigTen Network or ESPN classic I have to watch it. That game was the 1st ever game played on B10Network! Also the last game of the day was BG beating Minny! LOL What a way to open a TV channel!
Also another small factoid is that the 2 announcers who called that game had only done 1 other game together previously... BOISE ST & OKLAHOMA! LOL
Another thing I loved was Michigan's entire season in general. Loss to APP ST, blown out by Oregon on some sick Statue of Liberty plays, then Mike Hart's press conference where he guarantees a win over ND & they win 38-0. Then they force the coach to "retire" in hopes of getting Les Miles who backs out & says no, only for Carr to win the Capital One Bowl (my fav bowl game) over Florida & heisman winner Tim Tebow! Man what a crazy, exciting, dramatic year in college football for just 1 team!! I didn't even get into Ark over LSU in 3 OT's, Illinois @ OSU, PITT over WVU, and all those other bizzare #1's & #2's that went down every frickin week! I hope this year is half as wild as last year!

Forcing Coach Carr to retire??? You speak not of what you know. Coach Carr originally wanted to retire after the 2006-2007 season. The reason he didn't is because Bo Schembeckler talked him out of it. He was not forced to retire. His lack luster season maybe be the reason he couldn't pick his successor, but he wasn't "Forced" into retirement. A few weeks into last season Coach Trussel was asked in an interview about Michigan's "Bad" season. His response? "Wait a minute. They came in here one year ago, ranked #2 behind us, and if it weren't for a couple of odd bounces would have won that game. There's nothing wrong with them. They're just having a 'rough' season (by Michigan standards)."BGSUFootballFan wrote: Another thing I loved was Michigan's entire season in general. Well then we agree to disagree. http://www.armchairgm.com/Lloyd_Carr_Forced_to_Retire
It's been publicly made well known that Michigan wants a Michigan man & made an offer to Les Miles. Miles wanted to go but LSU wrote in his contract that he must pay $500,000 if he left LSU early & 1.25million if he left for MICHIGAN. This caused Miles to breakdown & cry when he heard the UofM job was open which of course caused quite a stir. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... ions_x.htm
Maybe Carr wasnt "forced" to retire, but take out the AD, or Les Miles connection, or the losses to OSU, App St, and Oregon & we very easily could be talking about Carr through 2012 right now IMO which to me equates into politely retire or be FIRED!

It's no secret that Michigan wants a Michigan man as its coach. It's been like that since Schembeckler took over as the AD in the late 80's and his famous firing of a basketball coach immediately prior to the NCAA Tourney.
Carr had pretty much been year to year for the last 3-4 seasons. He has one bad season and all of a sudden it's "Carr you suck", "He was forced to retire." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that Carr had one more year remaining when he retired. I will grant you he may have had a difficult time getting an extension the way things looked like they could easily had be going. If Michigan was going to 'force' him to retire I have to believe that they would have done so then. The man has the highest winning percentage of ANY coach in U of M history. He has won the only National Title that 99% of Michigan fans can remember. With one notable exception, his loses have been against top ranked opponents. Not the kind of man you force into retirement after one 'bad' season.

You can agree to disagree all you want, but you're missing the point. He would have retired a year earlier if not for Bo dying.BGSUFootballFan wrote:goofyeuph wrote:BGSUFootballFan wrote:

People have posted videos on Youtube of fans in other Big Ten stadiums watching the game on TV's in the concourse or hearing the final score announced over the PA. The mixture of cheers and laughter is a sure sign that Big 10 fans do NOT set aside rivalries for non conference games
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
