Go Lake Blue Streaks!!!!!! "ROCK 'EM!"Falconfreak90 wrote:Son, turnovers will kill you every time. Dover gave the ball away too many times and a very good Canton South squad made them pay.Freakling1 wrote:We lost! This sucks!
Tonight, Green opens with Lake. Tom Stacey's HC debut at Green!

Wow, a .737 win percentage doesn't sit well with Tiger fans? You're right, they do need to lighten up. That's cool Stacey is a BG grad. I'm sure he'll get your Bulldogs pointed in the right direction. Enjoy the game tonight! Are they playing at Green or in Hartville? Can you let me know what the final outcome is?Falconfreak90 wrote:SFF,San Fran Falcon wrote:Go Lake Blue Streaks!!!!!! "ROCK 'EM!"Falconfreak90 wrote:Son, turnovers will kill you every time. Kinda figured you'd feel that way.Green was only 3-7 last year so I don't know what to expect this year. Stacey was basically run out of Massillon for going only 56-20 or so in his career there. Those Massillon folks need to lighten up. Stacey is a BG grad so I gotta give props to the man. Lake should be a very good team again this year. They have a lineman, name escapes me right now, that is getting looks from BG.

Game is at Green on the brand new field turf. I wanted to go but Mrs. Freak already had plans for us to go to the Portage County Fair for a few hours tonight. I guess with football season starting, she thought she better get other activities in now.
It should be on WHBC or another local radio station so I'll post the score tonight after we get back.
Yeah, go figure about those Massillon fans. Nothing is ever good enough for them...makes it easy to root for McKinley ever year.

Green will always be number two on the depth chart of orange and black teams in UCLA.
Hoover gave its second annual beating to Josh Cribbs' alma mater, Dunbar high out of Washington, DC.
I was at the Parma Senior - Midpark game last night. Talk about some awful football. It was a three hour long high school game.

Not quite sure how things are now, but back in my day Hoover was Lake's biggest rival.
When I was in school (1995-1999), Jackson was, and today continues to be, the big Hoover rival. Lake was a big one, too. Lake, Hoover, Jackson, and Green are so similar in so many ways. Except that Hoover wins almost everything.San Fran Falcon wrote:UCLAjacojdm wrote:Green will always be number two on the depth chart of orange and black teams in UCLA.

One of the most memorable events of my teenage years came during the game that we played at Lake my senior year. It was the fall of 1998, and both Hoover and Lake came in to the game undefeated (probably 5-0 or 6-0...I forget). Anyway, this when when it was en vogue for WJW and WEWS to hop around to a few big games on Friday night in their choppers. Both arrived around halftime.
I was eating a hot dog at the concession stand at the start of the third quarter, and I heard a big roar from the crowd. I look at the field, and there's a kid running across the field, starting at the top of the hill by the field house, wearing nothing but orange ski goggles and a pair of boots. He gets to the end of the stadium that has the scoreboard and goes into the woods, and two Uniontown cops tackle him and wrap him in blankets, and take him away. I guess the kid was a senior at Lake, and he was subsequently suspended. Channels 5 and 8 caught the whole thing on tape, but only channel 5 showed a very blurred version of the video on the newscast.
Lake won by two. The only loss of the regular season for my Vikings.

I like your philosophical approach, Freakling1. It is a credit to you and your family. Your cool reserve around here could be sorely needed for the next few months. I have an ominous feeling that this BG's football season, like most, is going to be a roller coaster ride all the way to the end.Freakling1 wrote:We lost! This sucks!
