Myself and I know some others will be heading to Frickers around 11/11:30. Come join!

I do...and I officially will never watch a game at Frickers again. Two big screens and they wouldn't even put the BG game on one of them.
My hatred towards osu is even stronger now as well...

That's ridiculous for that to happen in BG. I'm not a fan of Frickers anyways, but still pretty awful.Metz wrote:I do...and I officially will never watch a game at Frickers again. Two big screens and they wouldn't even put the BG game on one of them.

I watched at Jed's in P'burg. We got 3 TVs that had the game, but we did have to move to the other side of the bar, because they could not switch one of the 7 TVs on the other side that were ALL showing the OSU game.
It wasn't even busy up there, I think there was probably one TV for each person that was watching the OSU game...oh well.

This is a huge disappointment. And we wonder why there isn't more community support and why we don't have better attendance.
Shame on Fricker's BG!

What's even worse, as I think about it, is that Frickers is the home of the coaches' shows and everything too.ZiggyZoomba wrote:This is a huge disappointment. And we wonder why there isn't more community support and why we don't have better attendance.

Is it too much to ask for at least one sports bar in the town to be the official/unofficial BGSU headquarters? My gosh this town needs a decent sports bar...I continually drive to Perrysburg for their Jeds & BW3 because they're both light years better than the BG ones.

Last year some friends and I went to Downtown after the homecoming game only to find a bunch of OSU jersey wearing kids there. The bar then began playing hang on sloopy while everyone did the dumb O-H-I-O. It was a little upsetting being an alumni on campus during homecoming weekend that this crap happened. Its a free world and the bar can play what it wants, but I will not be going back to Uptown / Downtown. I guess I will avoid Frickers now too.
I've always had luck with Jeds in Bowling Green. They usually turn the sound on and everything.

I see your Swartz is as big as mine!
In the manager's partial defense, he did go in to the one room on the east side and acted like he was going to change the station, but then looked at the 5 osu fans there at the time and asked who they wanted to watch (I don't know why when they were all dressed in red and gray). He heckled them for a bit, seeing if they could pronounce Bowling Green after finding out they went to school here at BG and asking why they weren't cheering on the Falcons.
Then he laughed a bit and left the room. When the rest of my group showed up, we moved in by the corner of the bar and watched on one of the smaller flat screens. To our surprise, it had no volume! So they turned on this tiny 10" TV in the corner by us with mono sound and cranked the volume up on that.
I think I'll be heading to Columbus to watch the BG games from now on. I assume if they show theirs here, maybe they show ours there...

The newer bar, 149, has a DJ that is a huge osu fan. Anytime osu plays, regardless if BG has just won, he will play hang on doofus all night. Why can't we get some Ay-Zig going in our own bars?!BourbonFalcon wrote:Last year some friends and I went to Downtown after the homecoming game only to find a bunch of OSU jersey wearing kids there. Jeds has actually been really good to me in the past. I just went to Frickers last year for the Minny game and there was about 40 Falcons there. Of course osu probably wasn't playing so it was "ok" to have us on the big screen then!

The OSU game was on during the minny game last year. There were about eight osu fans there and they ended up getting up and leaving the bar area by the end of the game because we were too busy cheering on the falcons.
Yeah right girl!
Oorah!
Oorah!
I was sitting in the corner room at Frickers and there were a bunch of OSU fans there, obviously BG students, in OSU jerseys. This pissed me off, but more so as I was cheering and they picked up on it. One guy was actually talking about our fight song - he said it was "Ay Ziggy Zoomba" and kept pronouncing it A-Ziggy Zoomba (like the letter A) instead of Ay.
My comment would be... which would you rather watch? OSU destroy a cupcake at home, or your OWN SCHOOL go on the road and beat a ranked team? As a sports fan, I'd rather watch the BG-Pitt game every day and twice on Sunday.
