I received this e-mail from an AD official yesterday:
"The recent off-field incidents have everyone involved very frustrated. Know that we are working together - captains, coaches and administration - to ensure things improve in the future. While there has been a string, I spend enough time around the team to believe their overall culture is positive. From the team's GPA to their community involvement and even small things like the nice remarks of the Marriott GM this past weekend in Pittsburgh tell me the overall team environment is positive. Unfortunately, the actions of a few will cloud things for everyone. We appreciate your support and know that we'll keep this issue in front of us."

Ok...hold on...Being disappointed about some of the off the field incidents is one thing...not being excited for a team that is 1-0 with tons of confidence going into a game against a Big ElevTen opponent at the Doyt is a completely different ball of wax. How could you not be excited for the TEAM? The on-the-field happenings are VERY exciting. You need to find a way to get pumped about the things this team is doing ON the field...go ahead and be disappointed by the OFF the field actions. I am too...but I won't let those incidents sour my craving for some good Falcon Football!

I'd sit the "offenders" on the 50 yard line and make them watch as their teammates work off the punishment with stadium steps or bear crawls or whatever.
I'd also consider implementing a buddy system. He was found alone on the side of main street after having puked on himself? No friends to drag him in to a shower to sober up or make sure he doesn't wander out in to traffic?
Even though this specific incident is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things when it is compounded with everything else even player-friendly GB has to realize ramifications and precautions from this.

Anybody who knows me knows that I am usually nuts about BG football. Half my wardrobe is orange and brown, and my season tickets are about as good as it gets without moving to the box. I'm just having a hard time getting excited this year.VDub26Falcon wrote:Ok...hold on...Being disappointed about some of the off the field incidents is one thing...not being excited for a team that is 1-0 with tons of confidence going into a game against a Big ElevTen opponent at the Doyt is a completely different ball of wax. It's a combination of the off the field issues, losing games they shouldn't lose, another MAC championship letdown, and our lack of rushing stats.
I will admit, I had a last minute issue come up, and couldn't watch the game last Saturday. However, when I checked the stats, my first reaction was that our running game is not going to cut it against Minnesota.
I'm sure that all of it will melt away the second that I park my car in BG this Saturday, but for the moment I'm struggling to get pumped.

Yards per carry would have been a much more important stat than total yards. Much like last year, there were very few running plays and tons of short pass plays. The good news is the freshman all american Bullock is back in the starting slot. We all know what he accomplished two years ago and the O line looks big and strong enough to help him reach the same level if he gets a few more touches.
Yeah right girl!

I was still drinking and puking on myself senior year.....
....BUT by that time BG didn't give a sh!t about me, unlike the football team. You wear a uniform that the fans pay for...you are forced to be more responsible. END OF STORY! The price of playing a game!

I love my birds! Go Falcons, Go Jayhawks!!!
I actually kind of like MACMAN's idea.
Although hammb's got it down with whatever it was he said about players stepping up to check each other to an extent.
