It's true. I believe there are better measures of success in life than money, but I will also never make 200k a year. Money can't but you love.cw08 wrote:Do you expect them to stay here and make $200,000 a year when they can make way more?FortWayneFalcon wrote:Every time they mention Urban I have to cringe. The thought of a good coach leaving for a "better" job as soon as he gets a little success makes me want to..
To build a better conference we need more people who are willing to go the long haul. I'm hoping GB is that kind of guy.
There is an endless list of reasons why a coach would go for the money or stay for continuing to build a program. I don't want to get into it.
At the end of the day, I believe this U. and the alumni can do better than 200k per year if that's what it takes.

I am nuts, and nobody in 20+ years has ever made me an offer to triple my salary. But, I would still try to argue the benefits of staying despite the money with a coach if I had the chance.cw08 wrote:You gotta spend money to make money, but there's a ceiling with a mid-major like us.
And if you're telling me that you wouldn't triple your salary to do your same job at a bigger company, you're nuts.

Man I still don't get the negativity towards Urban by some people. He truned this program around and is still responsible in some part for the success we are having today.FortWayneFalcon wrote:Every time they mention Urban I have to cringe. Why would you be upset at someone who leaves for a better opportunity somewhere else? He's just looking out after himself and his family. Hell any of us would take a new job if a better opportunity opened up.
And if you're upset that he was saying he was staying at BG right up until he left for Utah, sorry but I don't buy that either. That's the way the games played. You don't say you're interested in another job because that impacts your current players, recruits and alumni. You deny, deny, deny until the inks dry on the new contract.

Urban helped put us on the map. It is great for us that he coached here. He has come back to speak and help with fund-raising, etc. The more great coaches that come through BGSU, the better in my opinion...Rollo83 wrote:Man I still don't get the negativity towards Urban by some people.
