I like having all your weapons on the field particularly when your losing. Even Freddie and Cory didnt get that many touches in the 2nd half. Maybe i should just give the gophers some credit for shuting BG down...naw that aint my style, you got to have your best options on the field.
As for my thoughts on the team last night. They didn't play great but they didn't play bad. Too many turnovers kill the best teams. 5 turnovers that your opponent scores off of. That's hard to overcome. Defense still looks real good to me. Hands off to Haneline, he was a warrior out there trying to get us back in the game. Remember it was only 21-17 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Lets get fired up for Boise.....
Yeah, About Corey and Freddies touches in the 2nd half, I posted this in another thread before I read this one. It should have gone here:
Along the same lines. Even if this wasn't Corey, If it was Barnes or Wright or any other receiver. I would say the same thing. Why do you take your leading receiver out of the game at halftime? Corey had 7 catches for 60 yards in the first half, leading all receivers in the game on both sides. Then if my count is right Corey only played 6 plays in the 2nd half (3 of those coming with only 3-4 minutes left in the game) and never had a ball thrown his way. Its one thing if the defense makes adjustments to stop someone who is getting consistently open and catching everything thrown to him, but when your own coaching takes them out of the game????????
No, he was not injured and they were not saving him for the next game. Go ahead and bash me for saying something like this about my son's playing time but it doesn't make any sense.

The offensive plan was confusing--esp after Gophers made adjustments. BG had 200 some passing yards in the first half and only 60 in the second half (after Gophers went to 3-4)
I would have pounded the ball and run that QB run-sweep play.
Also surprised I didnt see the TE drag route you used against Pitt. Love that play, because Gophers ran that to death with Matt Spaeth
Right on, I don't know why we stopped pounding the ball. Minnesota had 8 guys in the box, and they still couldn't stop the run. Then, they manage to stop the run one time at the start of the 4th, and we abandon the run. Very next play....turnover.
I didn't think that we had a team that could run the ball like that. Bottom line, if we would have left Bullock in and kept running....well, there is another thread saying this, so I'm going to leave it at that.
I would have continued to pound the ball. That was Minney's weakness of defense.
BGSU's offense is very tricky but it went vanilla second half--not sure why.
That being said, Weber was 21/25....he is an up and coming QB but anyone completing 84% of their passes will make things tough for your team no matter how well you run the ball.
84% is pretty much passing at will.
Bullock is a player in the making...I hope he starts next week at Boise.
That DE is a real player. Sheehan is solid I wouldnt get down on him--he had only one of the five TO's so its not all his fault.

I'm not sure that he's a player in the making. He was a freshman all america a few years back and for whatever reason the staff seems to really dislike him. They ran out and brought in a juco and moved him down to 3rd string for his sophomore year last year. He does everything the staff asks of him this offseason and comes out and plays a great game in replacement of Geter against Pitt. Then they immediately re-instate Geter and Bullock gets hardly any touches last night. I've been joking for the past year that Bullock must've slept with a coach's wife, but I honestly don't know what the deal is. For whatever reason the staff doesn't seem to like what he brings to the table.

Webber is very solid and the wide reciever #7 (his name slips my mind) is an NFL prospect.
Back to what P-Grinner said about the seat cushions...I could not be more disappointed with the way the fans handled that situation. Granted, Huntington Bank is idiotic for thinking that was a good idea...I was joking with Terry after the game that the next home game is going to be frisbee's sponsored by 5/3rd bank...that being said, how dumb do you have to be to throw things at YOUR home field and at YOUR team's players? I'm sure alcohol had something to do with the tossing of them, but I think it also has to do with the stupidity of some people whether they are drunk or not. No one in my area was throwing it, and had they I would have said something. Just plain dumb all around on the seat cushion issue.

I was pretty wasted yesterday. I've been even more wasted at other games. Not once have I ever considered throwing items on a football field for any reason. It's inexcusable, and an embarrassment for our fans to represent that way. I hope everyone that they caught is somehow prevented from coming to another game.
I can only hope that they're able to single out the people using videotape, and ban them from the games for the rest of the season. We need a good student section, but we don't need them to be a part of it.
Blah, blah, blah on all previous posts. The game was lost when the Gophers converted that 3rd and 9 on a "wing and a prayer" of a throw after the bad shot gun snap with 2 Falcons in the QB's face. That was the game. They fail on that play and we have the ball after a punt --down 4 --and a ton of momentum with 13 minutes left in the game.

Maybe they should work smarter! Poor poor effort in my view. This MN team looked pretty bad against N. IL. I don't think we'll see a crowd like that for another 5 years, how sad. Does it need to take 25 minutes i-to get into the stadium and another 15 to your seat, only to kick several people out of your reserved seat.
The defense played very inspired while the offense constantly shot itself in the foot with turnovers combined with some bad playcalling. I hate the way our offense is designed, as it is extremely easy to adjust on as the game moves on.
Judging by many people's reactions last night while leaving, this will be the only time the Doyt is full this year. Many people who came out last night, came out to see what all the hype was about. Face it, BG football will always be a bandwagon program so long as OSU continues to dominate. The win vs. Pitt and a Big 10 home game generated enough buzz to bring people out, but the loss last night left a lot of those "bandwagoners" yet again ripping on the team as they went for the exits.
Again, this defense will be one of the best in the MAC, but the offense needs a lot of work. Saturday's game is a huge game for the program and for the team's confidence.
