I grew up in little Helena...so Fremont was definitely where we went to get our stuff!! We went to Food Town at the other end of Potter Village. And Buckeye Mart?....was that also called Big Wheel??? This is making me dig a LONG way back into my brain matter trying to remember those places!!!

Regarding Helena's speed trap...it was a BIG one a long time ago, but after the old guy passed away, not sure how much patrolling of Rt. 6 went on after that. I hardly ever go there any more, so haven't kept up on things in my former hamlet.

Not any more. Lee Snow (the local cop) died quite a few years back and the village decided to let the State Patrol handle everything. It's not even close to the speed trap that it used to be. I often wonder how much revenue the village lost as a result of that.

I drove that stretch of Rt. 6 a LOT while I was in school, and I never once saw anything resembling a cop in Helena. In fact, now that I think about it, the only place I ever did see the HP between Fremont and Bowling Green was at that rinky-dink rest stop right across from the golf-course near Fremont. They could have been running radar, but I did stop there once and there were quite a few numbers in the bathroom that you could call for...a...err...good time. So they could have been doing that, too, I suppose.

Big Wheel was on the Great Scot end. They tore that building down and now an Advanced Auto Parts and a Rite Aid stand in its place.
The store I really miss in Fremont is Ames. That store had it all, and it was one of the big anchors for the east side of town along with Wal-mart (which moved to the north end). Now, the east side has very little commercialism and is basically a ghost town.
Oh, I figured I should add one more thing for my bio that happened recently:
I am now engaged as of July 3, 2007. We haven't really set a date for the wedding, but we are looking for it to be sometime in the summer of 2009.

It was the second one. Rest Areas are the bath houses of the nineties.
As far as helena goes it was not a speed trap during my time (98-2003) but someone did put up what looked like a light from the top of cop car in fornt of a store with other strange items. I always assumed they were just trying to trick people into slowing down.
Heck's used to be Mr. Wiggs back in the day. As a pre-teen I used to beg to go to Mr. Wiggs and Buckeye Mart to get car models. They used to have an entire aisle just for models.

Well, I remembered that I posted something about getting married on here, and now that the day is 2 days away, I figured I would post an update and a couple questions. First question is why didn't anybody tell me how expensive this would be? Second question is why didn't anybody warn me that Bridezillas is a reality show about the norm when it comes to brides, not the exception?
As for the update, we're getting married in 2 days. Looking forward to the evening, but not to the cost. Then we are going on our honeymoon to Put-in-Bay to just kick back and relax for a few days before we have to come back, unpack, repack, clean, and move out of our apartment. Fun times.
Because every caterer, photographer, videographer, invitation maker, reception hall, etc... knows they have brides by the short hairs as they try to make everything perfect and that guys are just along for the ride.
