Buffalo got really, REALLY lucky.Peregrinner wrote:...you were saying?bgsufalcon24 wrote:Temple takes the lead over Buffalo 28-24 with 40 seconds left. It's party time in North Philadelphia.
On a completely separate note, why on earth does Buffalo have "2007 MAC East Champions" on the outside wall of their field? They came in 3rd place.

Lucky? Looked to me like the ball was thrown to the right spot and the receiver made a great play to come down with it.
As far as the championship, weren't they part of the same 3-way tie that allowed us to say we were Co-champs of the division?

While all this stuff was going on in Amherst, NY, Ball State has opened up on Akron big time. BSU now leads 37-10 in the 3rd Q.
EDIT: BSU got called for holding on the last touchdown, it's back to 31-10.
CMU scored a TD and Ohio's lead is down to 4, 14-10
It's all over in Ypsilanti, Toledo pounds EMU 41-17. BIG surprise there.

After 30-80 years as a play by play announcer, how in the world can Michael Reghi continue to suck so bad?
I'll give Doug Chapman a bit of a pass, because he's new and went to Marshall, so speaking skills may not be a high priority, but Rug-hi is AWFUL! How many times in the last five minutes did he talk about the two QB's as "his opposite number", when one was #13 and the other is #16? He gets what he thinks are cute little sayings in his head and drills them into the ground. Half the time, they're so wrong it's sick.
Moments after resetting the timeout situation (Read: Asking his producer how many TO's UB had), those clowns go on and on about how Buffalo can't run a play to the middle of the field with 10 seconds left. Even Burt Reynolds knows how to pull that off with timeouts left.
And "you're gonna see the 'Big Ben' here"? Yeah, Willy dropped back 20 yards and threw it off the moon, but they were at the 35.
Out of the booth, if UB hadn't called that timeout and got their PAT blocked and returned for the tie... talk about comedy. I wonder what would have happened if he had taken his team to the lockerroom for 10 minutes or so before the kick...hmmm...

I very nearly stopped watching because of Reghi - "They're the ...ah-Bulls at the ...ah-University of ...ah-Buffalo"
And I noticed nobody ever gets tackled in a game called by Reghi - they get knifed down.

"His opposite number" is a colloquialism meaning the person who does the same thing for the other team. HAs nothing to do with the uniform numbers. Don't know how bad he was otherwise but thought I'd throw that in.TG1996 wrote:How many times in the last five minutes did he talk about the two QB's as "his opposite number", when one was #13 and the other is #16?

I figured as much and thought the same, but in that case, the colloquialism is just as stupid as he is for using it repeatedly. I always thought it had to do with the uniform number.h2oville rocket wrote:"His opposite number" is a colloquialism meaning the person who does the same thing for the other team. (But if the Internet says I'm wrong, who am I to complain?
Reghi still sucks.

Reghi is a tool in every sense of the word. To see him strut around the media room at the MAC b-ball tournament in long, NBA-type suits is downright laughable. He calls everybody "my man" except any African-Americans who he greets with "my brother."
Reghi hosted the MAC basketball media luncheon two years ago and talked so long that Clark Kellogg joked that only had five minutes left to deliver his keynote address.
My first job out of BGSU was working for Lima radio station WCIT. When on assignment, I would ocassionally bump into Reghi as he was starting his career at WLIO TV 35. How he ever got out of the Lima market I'll never know. He was horrible then and has never gotten better.
