The Brandon Coaching Clinic

Post by poorlycoachedbgsu »

This team has tons of veterans and pretty good talent and Brandon and his staff are cr##ping the bed. Dumb penalties, turnovers, continual shooting themselves int he foot, lack of confidence, etc. Just some common traits of poorly coached programs. :axe: sorry coach but you blow.

OK..I deleted the "other" thread you started that said the same thing.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Since we are stating facts.....Boise had just 91 yards combined on their final seven drives. Great job D!

We stepped out there and played a very challenging non-conference schedule. Granted, we couldn't get out of our own way the last two weeks, and it cost us a couple games we could've won. There will be some very tough tests in the MAC, but the best three teams on our schedule are now out of the way. We were the preseason favortie to win the MAC because of how we stack up against the MAC, not Pitt, Boise State or Minnesota. If we had scheduled Eastern Kentucky and Liberty again and won 63-7, it would be all sunshine around here, but for what? We didn't do that...the program challenged itself instead.

Not making excuses for turnovers and overly conservative play calling, because our performance the last two games was very frusturating. But there's a ton of football left.

Bingo. We're going to have 4 games under our belts before heading into MAC play and that is extremely valuable in that we should have our full playbook in and know what our strengths and weaknesses are.

I've been trying very hard to stay positive, but this is one thing that I'm having a hard time imagining. I hope to jeebus I'm wrong, but past seasons' experience and what I've seen of the last two games leave me very frightened that we may never see an expanded playbook.

Prove me wrong, coaches.

I was very impressed with our "D". Great job fellas. This was a very tough game for BG. I figured we would go 2-2 in non-conference play. We can still do that. Win at Wyoming and pick up steam heading into MAC play. I still see a 9 win season.

It hard for me to say I'm impressed with our D just because they played well in the second half. As good as they were then, they were that bad in the first. Playing good after down by twenty points doesn't mean a lot to me.

1st post, eh? How about you submit your coaching resume for the HC gig?

This has been a very challenging non conference sked and everybody here knew it. I don't think anyone predicted BG to be 4-0 after the 1st month of the season.

I didn't see a lack of confidence against Boise State...we played tough and with heart in one of the most hostile places anywhere. You want to see a lack of confidence? Look to UCLA...I watched them get totally destroyed by BYU, 59-0.

Did the coaches make mistakes? Yeah, absolutely.

Let's look at another team with tons of veterans and a hell of a lot of talent...yes, the Ohio State Buckeyes, who got their asses handed to them in front of a national tv audience AGAIN. Hell, they should have lost to Ohio U.

To only lose by 13 and shut them out in the second half is something to feel good about.

Not too many opponents fair better in Boise.

But last time I checked, Brandon does not carry the ball or throw it.

Then why even have a head coach? As you point out, they have absolutely no effect on the outcome of a game. We must be out of our mind to pay this guy 6 figures when he just stands on the sideline all game long doing nothing.

I still think we should be close to the favorite in the East. If we can just eliminate the stupid turnovers and penalties, I think we'll be tough to beat.
