Blain Schafer

Post by FightingIrish Falcon »

Hello everyone I am new to AZZ so I do not know if this has been posted yet, but I read in the Toledo Blade that Blain Schafer a 6'6" 283 pound lineman is enrolled at BG instead of going to Ball State though it is unknown if he will be eligible for this year. I would assume he would be redshirted anyways.

Yes, this has been confirmed by Coach Brandon himself.

Actually...it was confirmed on here by Blaine's dad... :-)

Blaine left the team and dropped out of school this past week and went home.

Wow  Seems like Blaine has some personal issues to work through to straighten out his path in life. Best of luck to him.

Would this have anything to do with him not being granted eligibility this year or what? Dang, that's disappointing to say the least. :?

Can this be confirmed?

Ryan has it in his blog today. Honestly, I don't know what's going on, but unless he spoke to the coaches prior to this, I wouldn't let him back. This is a track record that, on the outside, doesn't look good.

Sounds like Brandon believes he went the extra mile trying to accomodate Blain, whatever the concerns were.

Too bad that it didn't work out and I have to wonder if Blain will look back in a few years and realize he may have made a big mistake (BG or Ball State) in regard to his future.

I hope things work out for the kid.

I don't know if he think he deserves the star treatment, but you do not jerk over two D1 schools and have a career at this level. Hope for the best, but smarter decisions needed to be made.

I would think his dad would want to come back on AZZ with an explanation if there was the "slighest" legitimate reason for his leaving. :?

Not speaking for Blaine or his family but I think he was homesick and his heart is not into football anymore. Nothing worse than not having fun (or enjoying it) in what you are doing in life.

He is a good kid from a very good family. I wish him the best and will miss visiting with his parents on game week ends

Yeah...I'm sorry he's not going ot be a part of the program here. I sincerely hope he can find a situation (football or not) that will prepare him for the real world (which is looking more and more unreal with each passing minute)
