Is our d line and linebackers really that fast anyway? I do not think so. If they were faster we should at least have some more TFL and sacks. We hardly have any. The only sacks we have came in garbage time.

Leiniger done for the season????

Post by bgfanatic »

There is absolutely no truth to the story of Matt being done for the season. If it was, nobody told Matt, because he laughed when he read about it.

Really. I just saw it on Fox 36, from Brad Fanning. He's done.

How did a thread from October get resurrected today?

Its becoming apparent that he's not going to play in the MCB because of his latest run-in, but all the other comments in this thread were referring to his earlier incident and/or his shoulder injury. *shrug*

I didn't think he was going to get the chance to play in the Motor City Bowl again this year anyways...

I'm going to step out on a limb and say that is a definite that Matt will not be playing in the Motor City Bowl this year (I have not heard his status for the GMAC Bowl though).

From the Toledo Blade (Dec. 4):

Junior defensive tackle Matt Leininger has been dismissed from the BG football team for an undisclosed violation of team policy.

DISMISSED?

Based on what we know, or what we think we know, I don't agree with that. Not at all.

come on man...

This guy has been busted for a DUI twice in the past half year. That's not good. You can't allow him to play football, b/c there is a need to get him help.

As Falcons fans, we all want Matt lining up on D next season....

but realistically, the program has no choice but to dismiss him from the team and try to get him help.

Life always comes before Football fellas....Brandon did what's right.

Has he?

If so, when and where was the first one?

The Blade reported that Matt was "charged with underage alcohol consumption and disorderly conduct while intoxicated" in August.

These are minor misdemeanors that occur daily in Bowling Green. I see no drunken driving there.

I don't claim to know all the nuances of this. But, based on what we do seem to know and can reasonably infer, I think Brandon overreacted the first time, and I think he's overreacting again.

What goes on in BG isn't really relevant to the discussion. As the head coach, Brandon can set whatever parameters for conduct he sees fit. There doesn't appear to be much wiggle room for alcohol related offenses. I can't imagine that was news to Leininger.

Now who is overreacting? I seriously doubt you know what actually happened to Matt, doubt you know what the team policies to alcohol incidents are, and doubt you know what conversation took place between Matt and the coach.

A strong message needs send to these KIDS...yes these are still KIDS...that incidents of this type cannot and will not be tolerated at BGSU...PERIOD. We are not that school from up north, or down south.

That being said, if Matt can get help and get things turned around then I would hope he can be welcomed back to the flock.
