Rivals.com has Tyler Harrell from Dublin Scioto as commited to BG. He is a 6 foot 4 225 ILB linebacker and also runs a 4.66 forty. Here is the link http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/vi ... _key=86205

Any play designed for a linebacker to run 40 yards is probably ill-advised.

I am sure FalconBoy will find something wrong with his size or speed or both.

Basler and Haneline are both as big or bigger than Hewitt or Burkes

Burkes wasn't close to 250. He may have looked bigger than he was from the stands because he was relatively short, but stocky. I tried to look him up on an old roster, but couldn't find one in the archives. He was closer to 220-225. I worked with his cousin and had asked him a similar question once. He said, no, he's not that big. He's thick, but not very tall.

Yeah...I thought Burkes and Hewitt were in that 230-235 range...but it's not like I ever weighed any of them :-)

This guy is coming from an area that has blossomed with a lot of good football teams/players recently. The teams he plays week in and week out have other division one recruits. He's not coming from some D5 farm league school where he's an untested LB. Dublin Scioto has good coaches that turn out very disciplined teams on the field. I don't care about the measureables. 4.66 and 6'4" 225 is a good base to build from.

This sounds like a good get.

In an article from 8/24/02 Hewitt is listed as 6'1", 215 lbs and Burkes is listed as 6'1", 225 lbs.

For the 2003 season, the preseason depth chart listed them at 213 and 234 respectively.

For his Senior season, Burkes was listed at 240 lbs.

This kid's measurables are what you love to get for a LB coming out of HS, if he stays at LB which I'm afraid he probably wont' knowing GB's history. Put another 15-20lbs on the kid and walla you got a nice MLB in the making.

When I saw the word 'committ,' I immediately associated it with 'commit a crime,' as in 'a BG football player just commited a crime.' The fact that this even crosses through our min--

Oops, wrong thread.

I thought one of the board "reactionaries" had been commited to a psychiatric ward for evaluation...it's only a matter of time, people.

Harrell is a very, very good player. Also a hard worker in the classroom I am told. Height/weight etc are important, but his frame and his ability to show some domination in high school at the big school level says that he is a fine recruit.

Generally speaking, offers from UC and other schools like that in addition to beating the MAC (and not playing against him) make this young man an intriguing player.

Find some more!

Go Falcons!
