TV Coverage and Attendance

Post by Rollo83 »

I should be able to watch the BG/Wyoming game this Saturday on the Mountain West Channel. That means that thanks to Direct TV, I will have enjoyed all four BG games so far from the comfort of my Man Cave (basement).

I just wonder what all the TV exposure means to our game attendance. I am pretty sure I would have made the trip to BG for the Minnesota game had it not been televised.

The Toledo game is the only other game on our schedule that is slated for TV. But, I would think we will get tabbed as a MAC Game of the Week at least once, if not more. Plus, the MAC also streams video live over the Internet.

I've watched several games this way. Quality is pretty good. It's improved quite a bit from where it was a couple of years ago.

Well, this is the one week is sucks to have Dish Network, which doesn't carry the Mountain West Channel. Although, I get the VS channel and they play A LOT of MWC games so there's still a chance. If not, I'll probably do the streamline deal or go to the neighborhood Cleats location.

Just looked at the MAC site and I do not see the BG game listed? I might actually have to do, Gasp, radio! That's OK. As long as I can hear Todd Walker, I'll be fine.

I was hoping I might get to pay $21.95 and get the Gameplan for the weekend for this game.

Is it even possible for ESPN Gameplan to pick up a game on the Mountain West Channel?

If they picked up that local group from Boise State, I'd say anything's possible. Though I don't know what kind of contractual obligations may get in the way of a MWC Channel game, if that's what you meant.

DD,

I don't know...I will look into it but something tells me it won't be on the GP. All I know is it was well worth it a week ago for the BG/Boise State game. I watched so many games I didn't plan on watching.

I do hope it's part of the package.

If all else fails on Saturday, head to a bar that has DirecTV. They have "The MTN" on channel 616.

If a bar has NFL Sunday Ticket, it has DirecTV.

You'll never see a MWC channel game on ESPN Gameplan...

Post by DCPoke »

The "Mtn" was created because the Mountain West hated how ESPN was screwing with game dates and times. Basically the MWC gave ESPN the middle finger and went out and created their own channel. You'll never see a MWC game on ESPN unless the team is on the road and the home team is covered by ESPN. Right now, Direct TV is your only option.

If you have DirecTv , do you have to have a special package to get the MTN West Channel? My Findlay buddy has directv and would be nice to at least be able to watch the game at his place.

Just checked online for the Cleats location about a mile from my house in Green...they have the NFL Sunday Ticket. Just called and they do not have DirectTv. OK....trying to find other places for the week. Cleats in Green has Time Warner.

Looking on the Versus Channel sked, this weekend they have Army at TX A&M at noon and FL A&M at TN State at 3...joined in progress. I was hoping they would carry BG/WY cuz they do carry some MWC games. Where the hell did FL A&M/TN State come from????

You have to have the Sports Pack...

Post by DCPoke »

I think it's $12 extra a month. Here's a link:

The Mtn channel is the last on the list.

Hmm...at first I didn't think my friend had the sports pack until I saw that ESPNU is apart of of it which my friend does have along with FSN and the NBA channel and the like. I may be in luck. :)
