From a quote in today's Detroit News column by Bob "Wojo" Wojonowski, I guess Lloyd Carr and Urban won't be buddying up at the next Coaches meeting.
This is a snippet.
More than a dozen coaches have been canned this season. As for the infamous Urban Sprawl, Carr sure didn't sound pleased that Meyer had an out clause for three jobs -- Notre Dame, U-M and Ohio State.
"That's kind of a neat way of advertising the jobs you like," Carr said sarcastically. "We've been criticized, and rightly so, because every time a job comes open, or there's a threat a coach will be fired, there's another coach having his agent throw his name in the mix. So then he can become a candidate or use it as leverage. Those are horrible statements about where we are."

Why is Lloyd putting the blame on the candidate, instead of on the univerisities? I can't believe that Carr, given the same circumstances and age, would not have done exactly as Urban did.
I think the criticism should fall on schools like Florida and Notre Dame, who never gave their coaches an opportunity to be successful. Lloyd's got a good thing going in Ann Arbor - he's one of the lucky ones.
