3rd and 6. 1:20 something left, incompletion.

All we had to do was pound it up the gut on 2nd down to force EMU to use their last TO with 1:20 to go, then do the same on 3rd down. After the punt EMU would have had less than 30 seconds to go almost 80 yards to score a TD and win the game. Instead we hand them the ball by running 2 plays that stop the clock and then let them march down the field like it was a 7 on 7 drill.
EMU had six-plays and moved the ball for 77-yards for the go ahead TD.

Oh yeah it only took just 45 seconds.

Defense is still in Wyoming playing with the horses

The recruit in front of me looked at his Dad and said "Not here".

That was the QB. Had him stopped in a heap in the middle of the field and he somehow escapes and was smart enough to run straight to the sideline.

I had plans to go to Akron next week. It'll take a major change of heart for me to even move one step toward the Rubber Bowl now. In fact, I'm not sure I'll be attending any more games this season. I just can't take the heartbreak any longer. I'm done.
I share the same sentiments as 24 here, I feel like I have been betrayed. how can this team lose to Easten Michigan?? i just stared at my computer screen for a good half hour after i heard Todd say that the kick was blocked. The season is over 6 weeks in. That's pathetic. only way we salvage anything is if we win out, but can you honestly believe that a Gregg Brandon team will live up to any sort of hype that they have. is it basketball season yet? And hockey is right around the corner...THANK GOD!

We still can win out. Don't laugh, it's more than possible. Will it happen? If this week is any indication, then doubtful. BUT....all isn't totally lost yet. Trust me, I wanted to jump off the Bay Bridge or Golden Gate bridge (I think it's a longer drop off the GG. Hence, a greater chance I die on impact, but I digress), but that little voice in my head pulled me back. I refuse to give up on this team at this point. Am I pissed? OMG, beyond belief. Do I want to put this team to rest? Not just yet, but one more loss, and this season is a lost cause....as far as controlling its own destiny. Let's just lick our wounds and regroup for Akron.
What's with all this layin' around s**t!?! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!?! Who's with me???
I'm normally a person who's very cynical, but somethin' tells me our Falcons are gonna do something special. Let's not lose the faith just yet.

Roll along baby!!!

One play in the first half we had a guy doing jumping jacks in the endzone he was so wide open...Tyler never saw him.
As soon as I saw his pocket presence, I knew he wasn't playing loose. He had happy feet in the first quarter and was hanging on the the ball too long too early. Only in the second quarter did he start letting the ball go quickly - but wasn't even consistent.

He's up and down and there's something in his head confidence-wise. I agree in that he's difficult to figure out at this point.

Everybody is throwing around a bunch of names and appropriately ripping on the various bonehead plays of the last two minutes. However, I think that I have only seen a couple comments about the personal foul penalty that made a potential game-tying field goal 15 yards longer. I know that it should have never come down to that, but costing the team 15 yards is worse than the couple seconds that Kelley cost us by jogging back to the line of scrimmage.

On a positive note, the Falcon Marching Band was awesome last night!

Wow...I am speechless. That was one ugly effort top to bottom. It didn't look like BG wanted to be there and EMU took advantage of it. They wanted it more than we did.

Things just got a whole lot harder now...

I'm with Warthog and hammb! I'll probably go to the remaining games, but frankly, I am to the point where I really don't expect much from any Brandon coached team, and really don't care. I am really tired of getting all pumped up about a team, only to have them play a game against an inferior opponent and just get completely OUTCOACHED and out played. There was absolutely NO emotion on the sideline from the COACHES or the players (Brandon stood there most of the game with his arms crossed in zombie mode) and this simply rubs off on the players and we ALL know that there is NO DISCIPLINE on any BRANDON coached team, rather it be on or off the field.
Someday I will hopefully, be able to really get "back into Falcon football, but I think that day will come after we have new leadership in the athletic department and the football team!

Well, ... I called it to be a close game but sure didn't expect us to be on the wrong side of a close game. Absolutely embarrassing, but here's my observations:

1. Sheehan through deep downfield twice. One was a TD to Wright. The other was a completion to Kelley that led to a TD. How about we try throwing downfield more often! (not to start up the conversation again, but there's a super strong-armed QB behind him that is not afraid to chuck it downfield ... I think Sheehan's gotta watching over his shoulder right now)

2. Lack of effort on all sides, but I noticed it more on defense. Unbelievable.

3. Why did we not run the damn clock out at the end of the game?? If that were a game of NCAA Football 09, Corso and Herbstreit would have been chewing out the coach about stopping the clock!

4. Everybody I talked to in the band had a good perspective on that "interference on the kick catcher" call that Smith returned for just about a TD. Every one of them said that Smith backed off, but the ref, if you looked close, didn't have a good angle on called it WITHOUT being able to see Smith's hands. Complete BS.

5. Is this whole two coordinator offensive coordinator thing really working? I certainly don't think so. The offense looks out of sync very badly.

How can you lose to a clearly inferior opponent for your first conference home game? How can you make critical errors in strategy and execution time and time again? The play calling was horrendous and fed right into their hands. After this one game, say goodbye to recruits and fans. This is even worse than the bowl loss last year. The accountability, as always, starts at the top with the head coach.

Quite frankly, Urban Meyer, the Ole Miss loss was just atrocious.

That was tough to see for sure from my seats. I thought he was a little close, but on the replay it didn't look like he interfered with the catch. It should also be noted that had there not been the flag, you still cannot advance a muffed punt. Yes, we would've had the ball, but it would have been where it was recovered, not where Smith was tackled.

Also, to whoever mentioned it, I agree whole-heartedly about Corey's personal foul. I didn't see it at all, but that's the kind of thing that has plagued these Brandon teams over the years. Poor discipline on the field, period. I didn't see a replay or anything, but you just cannot do that in that situation.

Lack of discipline off the field....lack of discipline on the field....two sides of the same coin.

Someone must have dropped a credit card near the end zone given the way Hodges took off on that TD run...

The thing that gets me defensively on that last drive is the fact that they were playing man coverage. If not, they were playing the absolute worse zone coverage I have ever seen in my life.

On the play where they scored the touchdown it was a simple pick play that we got ate up by, in man coverage, and let them waltz into the endzone. Now I understand the four man rush was getting no pressure all day, but when you are trying to protect a small lead in the waning seconds of a ballgame, why do you decide then to move to zone coverage and blitz? I don't understand that in the slightest bit!

Drop back in the zone, allow the short routes and keep them in bounds! Oh well....at least the lines for the restrooms will be considerably shorter for the next 3 home games.
