Yes it was after the game. But I bet it wasn't a spur of the moment type thing, or he wouldn't have had the jersey with him. My guess is that he told his team all week that if they won, they could burn his BG jersey. So yes, it would have been motivation for this game.

I didn't see the burning of the jersey, but I heard some of the trash talking being yelled by the EMU players about our team as they left the field. That was as equally embarrassing as the scoreboard. I was so stunned by the loss that it didn't even really sink it what they were saying at the time until we walked away. But, they took it right to us on our home field. This loss goes as one of the low points in recent years IMO. I feel about the same after this one as I did losing to Temple in 2006 and Buffalo in 2000 where all I could ask afterwards was: WTF just happened & how did this just happen?!

I am waiting to hear word that he actually did that, or if it was a figurative description by the author. It is tacky, if plausibly understandable. He is fighting for his job right now. I don't wish for his having gotten the job over Meyer, but wish he had kept out of HC'ing until after Urban left.

Well, then we got our azzes handed to us by a team that is one step above 1-AA...what an awful loss. I was so disappointed that our team did not play to its full potential. I saw Greg Christopher walking the sidelines during the 4th quarter...was hoping I'd get to see him hand GB his walking papers.

A big rationale behind hiring Brandon was to "continue the exciting brand of footall the fans want," from the Meyer years. Brandon was the offensive coordinator, and it was reasoned that he was the "obvious" choice, if not the required one for that job. Plus, he was a popular coach with the players. And he was cheap. Let us face facts, his pay is low compared to the rest of the MAC, or at least the best of it. To hire another young buck after Meyer likely would have required a hike in pay.

BGSU is getting what it paid for, some decent coat-tail years, and now a discount coaching staff that is not up to par with the best in the MAC.

Aside from the first game of the year, for which they had all summer and fall to prepare, they have stalled out of the gate against every team they played. In two cases, they choked away, or simply never showed up for the game. Both of the "bad" loses were at home no less.

There is talent enough on the roster. It may or may not be the best in the MAC, but it is good enough to win with.

This is supposed to be "the" year for this coaching staff's product. I won't call for heads to roll until the end of the year, if even then. Too much season left, and frankly, not much emotion left to invest in such a view. But they can recruit well enough, the talent can get the job done. Lots of excuses are off the table. Team preparation, focus, game plans, adjustments, these are what BGSU needs to win this year, and that has failed two or more times this season already.

Last I checked, we can still win the East.

I hope so. EMU wasn't the "glitch" game I was expecting. I'm just saying that now they have to get the house in order, and fight off the sharks in the water.

+1. He told his team prior to the game that if they win he will burn the jersey of his alma mater. Pretty good motivation IMO. I don't like it but it might have it worked.
