Note at the bottom. Who knows what went on behind the scenes, esp. with the Edwards "incident" a week ago, but it's a shame he didn't seem to get much more of a shot.

Good luck with the next step, Steve!

It also says they released DB Travis Key from the practice squad. That probably means they opened up a spot back on the practice squad for Steve once he clears waivers.

Even though he has that opportunity, I'd rather see Steve get a chance with another team...It's obvious that he was simply holding a spot for the high priced free agent WR....for some reason, they like Steptoe (who got his chance primarily due to Cribbs' injury since he could return kicks too.) If Steve were to sign with someone else, I believe they'd have to keep him on the active roster though I don't claim to know all the ins and outs of the NFL rules.

Saw Steve was at the BG game on Saturday.

How many times can you be allocated to the practise squad?

You can go back and forth as many times as you clear waivers. However, you can only be on the practice squad for a set number of seasons before you are no longer practice squad eligible. Being on an active gameday roster also limits your eligibility to be on the squad. I think it's something like 2-3 seasons on the PS, but if you've been on an active gameday roster for 8 games you're no longer eligible. I'm not positive though.

I'm pretty sure that Steve will no longer be practice squad eligible after this season, no matter what happens from here on out.

That sucks for him. It would have been nice to see him get more of a chance, but Anderson only knows how to throw to his first two reads anyway. So hopefully some other team will give him a better opportunity.

There are teams out there who could use a WR right now (Seattle). He will end up on his feet somewhere, whether he sticks or not I don't know. Just keep working hard Steve.

Aren't you giving Anderson a little too much credit there?

I was just hoping Steve could make it stick with the Browns, since it's "my" team, and also because of all the great things he's done for high school kids in the area.
