Some days, I don't think the Easter Bunny could win on this board.

That bastard didn't leave me a basket this year and can't effectively run a zone blocking scheme.

How were we supposed to win this game going away? BG was a ONE pt fave at Akron. We won by 4. If you were really a fan, you'd be a happy camper right now but no, you continue to bitch and moan. Get the F outta here.
i won't get outta here. a real fan would see the danger in being content with lucking out like at akron. by the way, we were a 1 point favorite b/c we made that bed w/ our bad play last week and erratic play all year. at the start of the season anyone handicapping this game would have made us a 7-10 point favorite. we are not living up to expectations. now you go away.

I vote that freak can stay.....

You on the other hand...what makes you think that outscoring our opponent by so much in the 4th quarter was luck? Have you ever played football before? It aint a game of luck pal...its a game of passion and fight, and our guys showed a lot of it to pull out the Win and place us in First place...

Dude, we didn't make any "major adjustments" at half time. Akron took the second half kickoff and went 46 yards in 11 plays and got a field goal...nice adjustment defense. We then went three and out on our first posessioin...nice adjustment offense. Akron then goes 30 yards in 7 plays and settles for another FG and we punt on or next posession. Third quarter over...way to coach em up at half time.

A couple of things happened that allowed us to capitalize in the second half. One, Akron tried to get fancy inside the five and fumbled an exchange on an end around. If they handle the exchange he walks into the endzone. We caught a break and they settled for a FG.

Second, the interception was a mistake as the Akron QB was trying to throw the ball away and didn't get it out of bounds. Smith makes the pick and we score an easy TD. Without that mistake, we probably don't win.

The Akron defense also seemed to wear down in the fourth quarter. I give BG credit for putting the ball in the endzone, that's for sure.

We caught some breaks in the second half. I didn't see any major adjustments by our coaching staff.

Yep...when we lose it's because the coach stinks...when we win it's pure blind luck......that seems very fair.

I really believe that Rollo gets it right here. Second half adjustments would show up during the third quarter. I said it in the chat when Akron came out and just started going through the defense. Any adjustments at halftime didn't work in the 3rd quarter. From those that were watching the feed on the internet were saying, Akron forced themselves to get a field goal trying to be too fancy. The PLAYERS did a good job of stepping up in the fourth quarter, it wasn't the coaching staff. The coaching staff allowed the team to come out flat in both halves, and didn't make any major halftime adjustments that were effective in the second half. I applaud the players for their effort and the win, I am thrilled that they won, and I am trying not to be negative. But Coach Brandon has done nothing to instill confidence that he will have his team ready to play each and every week, especially emotionally.

You really have no clue about MAC football, do you? This league is as balanced top to bottom as any out there. There isn't much that separates the top from the bottom in most years. Ball State has clearly shown to be the best in the conf so far....so far. There are 6 games to go...5 for some teams.

Please show up at our tailgate area next week for the Miami game so I can brief you on what the MAC is all about. This same Akron team should have beaten Cincy at home. ANY team in the conf can beat anyone on any given day...book that.

Rollo,

"A couple of things happened that allowed us to capitalize in the second half. One, Akron tried to get fancy inside the five and fumbled an exchange on an end around. If they handle the exchange he walks into the endzone. We caught a break and they settled for a FG."

That was a piss poor coaching decision then...instead of getting fancy, Akron should have given the ball to Kennedy.

"Second, the interception was a mistake as the Akron QB was trying to throw the ball away and didn't get it out of bounds. Smith makes the pick and we score an easy TD. Without that mistake, we probably don't win."

Again, poor coaching on Akron's part. I'm sure the staff has instructed the Akron QB to throw the ball over the wall and into Derby Downs if nothing is there.

How about the Akron staff not having their team fired up for the 4th quarter? Did they think they had the game won? Again, poor coaching to have your team thinking the game was in the bag.

You can't have it both ways.

Bottom line...BG won. Call it luck or whatever, I don't really care. All I care is we won & are in 1st in the East.

To Freak and others that were at the game - did the quarterback try to hand off to the receiver behind his back? That's what the Akron announcers said on the mac-sports.com broadcast.

Based on the way that the play developed, I don't put that one on JD. The score was there for the taking, but the players botched it.

Take the coaches out of the discussion and we had two different Falcon football teams last night. One was very lethargic and didn't play well. The other looked like a bunch of kids that actually enjoyed playing football. They flew around the field and had fun in that fourth quarter. I wasn't at the Rubber Bowl, but it certainly looked like the first time that our guys were really having fun since the Pitt game.

On the postgame show on the Akron radio network, Brookhart said the call was for a statue of liberty play. I would have still given it to Kenedy right up the middle twice more on that series.

The Akron radio guy also asked Brookhart why he held onto the one timeout during that last series. Brookhart said he was saving it once they got inside the twenty. But, he let 20 or more seconds click off the clock setting up to run a play with under 50 seconds left. Not great clock management IMO.

Actually, the Easter Bunny's problem is that he has no clue how to recruit talent to get the job done for him. If he could get so much as one playmaker on his team, he would dominate....but he just keeps getting crucified year in and year out.
