Attendance

Post by dannyk »

In the box score it had each game this weekend with just over 1,000. There is no way there was 1,000 people at the game last night. Is anyone concerned that we just haven't gotten any consistent attendance for the last 12 years or so.

BG high school hockey crowds are about the same as BGSU, it just doesnt make sense to me that nobody at all will come and watch these guys play a couple games a year even if we are a mid to basement team in the league.

It was fall break, so I guess the students can get a little bit of a break...

High school football Friday night. Football in Akron, Toledo in AA...

Personally, I think a good audience to target for marketing is the old Storm fans. It's been a year or two for them without hockey.

I'm not sure about a lot of older people and college graduates, but I know a lot of people that had other things going on this weekend...not just Fall Break. As for the students, no one went home for Labor Day weekend because it was the first weekend of the semester so everyone (and I mean everyone because I only had a handful of people left in Founders and most of them were RAs like me) left for Fall Break. The campus was completely empty.

It's Oct. 12 and we are talking attendance? It was RIT and Niagara, on opening weekend, right in the middle of football season. I'm not too worried. I consider myself a B!G hockey fan (I have season tickets), and to be honest, I went to an important high school game Friday and the Akron game Saturday. Once we hit CCHA play, and the students are back in, we will be fine.

first off BGHS has not had crowds that rivai BGSU since the mid 80's, ( even those crowds at their peak were less than what we have at BGSU games now) even at these current numbers. More over truth be told that with the next 5 years BGHS will be moved down to the middle division, they just can not compete anymore, and sadly have no feeder to compete with the top teams in Ohio HS hockey.

As for BGSU attendance, you can count it steadily rising during the season. Sure it is just sad that this, team, good as they are has to worry about attendance numbers, but that is row you must hoe after years of being shitty. they need to earn the fan base all over again.
